About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To know what I'm leaving behind, not what I'm looking for

ABOUT ME

As my former flatmate and friend, PO(http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/pob/)wrote, I'm Swiss child and adolescent psychiatrist and(wannabe) actor. Although obviously an incomplete description this is already a good start. To infer for instance that I manage this intense - sometimes verging to chaos - way of life dynamically, including the time to meet unusual travelers when I have no time to move myself.

What could I add - that, while on the stage, I might be different characters and enjoyed those parts where : I could explain how to survive in England with just 2 words, defend my jewishness, convey what it is to be severely depressed, missing the love of one's life, compose with a bourgeois when stucked on a raft, seduce a recent widow the day of the funeral or have provocative talks at a social gathering ! (if you want to know more about it you can read : Mariage de Figaro (Beaumarchais), The Merchant of Venice (Shakespeare), 4.48 Psychosis (Sarah Kane), Le partage de Midi (Paul Claudel), Bataille (Jean-Michel Ribes), Richard III(Shakespeare), Demons (Lars Noren))

PHILOSOPHY

Am I allowed to quote ?

Now I know why many men have stopped and wept
Halfway between the loves they leave and seek,
And wondered if travel leads them anywhere.

Leonard Cohen, Travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Could help specify who are the users of CS - as a psychiatrist, it might be interesting to know why people choose to come to my place. For instance those who pretend not to have read, noticed or cared that I actually was one. It would be even more interesting to understand how they came to my "unlifted" third floor.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Being an attraction in itself in far-eastern Russia, testing faultless hospitality in bielorussian datcha and, at home, being taught on the sexuality of spiders or the probable food regimen of last ice-age human beings.

Interests

Crazy people (all of them), anxious, depressive, maniac, addicted (to anything), hysterical, psychopathic, obsessive, narcissic, and of course, borderline - well, people that is.

Music, Movies, and Books

Under the volcano (Lowry), A la recherche du temps perdu (Proust), Herzog (Bellow). And I don't put the Brothers Karamazov or Voyage au bout de la nuit or you'll know how plain my tastes are.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being the only doctor stepping in a jail hosting 3'500 people (planned for 1'500), in at that time civil-war torn Ivory-Cost.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well it could be how to prepare Swiss fondue, learn Russian alphabet, Richard III (I,2), bike Paris, make awesome cappuccino (the coffee machine being a definite plus of the place, I would say), recognize (if not treat) paranoiac, sleep (well) in a russian third-class wagon, or appreciate Châteaux Neuf Du Pape.

Countries I’ve Visited

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Denmark, Djibouti, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, French Polynesia, Georgia, Greece, Greenland, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela, Zambia, Zimbabwe
