ABOUT ME

We're a couple, Anja and Benjamin, and we lived out on the coast of NC for many years and up in the mountains and now up in Maine! We like foraging and taking pictures of wild plants and animals and just exploring the wilderness. We want to get out more and travel around some. It'd be cool to meet some similar folks around here too. If you like to do your own thing during your stay, that's totally cool too. If we can't host you (sometimes we have very busy lives), we might could meet up for a drink or something downtown. Or, I could give you a lot of idea of places to visit in the local area. Please note that we only host folks for ONE night. Life can be busy and stressful sometimes and we usually need a day to ourselves to catch up/decompress. If you request more than one night, or you don't discuss staying for one night in your message, that tells me you didn't read our profile... Thanks!

We have a spare room and an empty couch. We also have a couple air beds floating around too.

Few and far between, but so far it's been an interesting experience.

Interests

We both like hiking, camping, exploring neat towns, learning about different cultures, unique foods (we love food), drinking beer and hearing fun/interesting stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many movies, music and books out there and our favorites really change all the time. Forest Gump is a classic. I (Ben) also love movies that have very strong emotional music and feelings! Like most music really.

I (Anja) plays the piano and cello. I've played the piano for years now, but I'm still learning the cello. So many books, but I love reading books about native plants and I really enjoyed The Garden Awakening.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I (Anja) had a sweet summer job working for NASA studying climate data.

I (Ben) spent a summer in the wilderness in Idaho. So remote and wild out there.

Teach, Learn, Share

We could talk about local stuff to do and places to see. We can also share knowledge of the tree species and plants in the area. We would be interested in learning more about your local area where you live, what it's like there, food from there and the overall culture.
