About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to meet the coolest people in the world! I figure that if you're willing to come to a new place and stay with someone you've never met, you could fit in that category. I also believe that helping others ultimately helps you!

ABOUT ME

The first thing anyone (friends or strangers) would say about me is "he's tall". I'm 6'9" to be exact, so it provides quite a unique perspective on life...it's a nice view from up here! Characteristics that come in second are that I'm fun, adventurous, easy-going, funny, and young at heart. I was raised with a solid head on my shoulders, and a good sense of responsibility. But that doesn't mean I can't cut loose! I'm a fairly deep person, who feeds off the energy of great people and good conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

I know it's cliche, but I believe in "what goes around, comes around." Karma. Energy. Whatever you wanna call it. Be good to others and they will be good to you!

I am also at a place in life where I want to enrich my life. Lately, I've felt a little stuck in a rut and I am trying to break out of the mundane. Maybe this will help!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well I'm just getting started, so I'm guessing my first participation will be as a host. Once I learn a little more about this community, I will take advantage of being a surfer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My friends turned me on to this awesome concept. They have been hosts for several years now, but my first and only experience with it has been a surfer who recently stayed with them. He's a young guy who is touring the country, performing live music. It was amazing meeting him and hearing about all of his experiences.

Interests

I'm a writer, so I feel as though that helps me discover more about myself through expressive and creative writing. It's an outlet for me. I am a very positive person who always tries to see the best in others and all situations.

Being active is not only important to me, it's vital to my existence! Whether it's lifting weights at the gym, playing sports, or just about anything outdoors, I love to be on the go. Hiking and camping are two of my favorite things. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and ride a motorcycle...the two perfect vehicles for an outdoors enthusiast.

I also have a close group of quality friends who are always into something. We take advantage of anything locally that will broaden our cultural experiences...museums, music festivals, theater, parks; you name it, we're down to try it! We also like to go out on the weekends and dance a little...but who doesn't??

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of movies and all kinds of music. Predominantly, I love humor, drama or action/adventure. Also love a good documentary, especially when it involves nature. My favorite kind of music is hip hop, but I also love rock, some country, pop... But even if it doesn't fit into one of those genres, chances are I'll enjoy the heck out of any live performance.

And since I'm a writer and spend a lot of my day reading and editing as well, I don't read a whole lot of books. More of a magazine lover.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, this is a tough one. Although there are some grand moments in my life, I think it's so important to be able to appreciate the greatness of those daily things...whether it's meeting new friends or learning something.

Since it's asking for awestruck, I guess I'll go with snorkeling off the Florida Keys, a trip to some Mayan ruins just outside of Playa del Carmen, rafting down the Gauley River..considered one of the most dangerous rivers in the world, walking up to the Grand Canyon, riding in a hot-air balloon, and jumping off a 60-foot bridge into Watauga Lake. Skydiving is next :) which brings up the fact that there is still so much to see and do!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can offer knowledge on grammar, creative writing or marketing. But I also feel as though I can share lessons learned through my experiences, which I always treasure and keep in mind.

I am looking to learn more about different cultures, perspectives on life, and anything in between!
