About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get the most out of each and every day....

ABOUT ME

I'm a fairly active (pretty normal) 35 year old guy. I like to think of myself as pretty well balanced. Historically, I've always been more of an introvert but I've found that couchsurfing has been a great way to bring me out of my shell a bit and I've enjoyed meeting new people from the same and from different walks of life.

I grew up in Michigan, though I've called Anchorage, Alaska my home for the last 12 years. I just recently moved to the Portland area so I'm still exploring the area discovering all the fun stuff to do here. I have two dogs who have been amazing companions. Like most dogs, they love being outdoors, going for hikes, playing in mud, eating grass, etc. so they keep me active and young at heart.

Work-wise, I'm kept relatively busy in the summer months which makes it somewhat difficult to host at times but still feel free to send me a request and if able, my other half, dogs and myself will be happy to have your company. I may not be able to confirm or deny your request until last minute as my work schedule frequently changes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have enjoyed hosting and entertaining people at my house in Alaska.

I haven't had the time to host or get involved in the Portland community very much but my time is starting to free up and I'm looking to meet new people and am down for an adventure or two.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't stayed at anyone else's place just yet, but I've enjoyed company staying at mine while passing through town. I've made some good friendships which I'm sure will last awhile.

Overall, I have to say that this has been a fun community to be a part of!!

Interests

Mostly outdoor activities such as: hiking, biking, rollerblading, skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, kayaking, paddle boarding, camping, etc. On nice days, I also enjoy taking a ride on my motorcycle or meeting up with friends for a tennis match. When it's cruddy outside, I'm content with being lazy, gaming, watching a movie or reading a good book.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy movies of all genres...action, adventure, thriller, comedy, etc. I have a very eclectic taste in music....my itunes has just a little bit of every type on it. Though I don't read as much as I'd like to, when I do, I usually can be found reading travel books, fiction novels, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two months backpacking around Thailand and left the country just 2 days before the tsunami hit in December of 2004.

Countries I’ve Visited

Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Thailand, Turkey, Vatican City State, Virgin Islands, U.S.

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
