About Me

Hello! I'm Bryce. I'm a big fan of forests and musical instruments that require little skill (cue the tambourine). I'm from Central California, and recently graduated from Colorado College with a bachelor's in neuroscience. Catch me running, cooking, reading science fiction, or spending time with friends. I'm currently working as a wildland firefighter and traveling around South America. I'm up for most everything, especially writing the day away in a local cafe, rocking a good hike, or exploring nightlife. I'd love to get to know ya!

The most underrated vegetable is the brussel sprout. Try it for yourself:
boil spouts for 20 mins.
prepare oven at 350.
remove sprouts from pot and lightly crush each one with a hammer or pan.
in a separate bowl, mix cheese, olive oil and garlic. (potentially eggs too, for a breakfast version!)
coat brussel sprouts in this mixture.
place sprouts on a baking sheet and bake till crispy.
Yum!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always wished people had more platforms to interact with and help each other in a community-based way. Couchsurfing is just that. I love being able to connect with and stay with local people wherever I go. It's great to invite others into my own space. The world is a big place, and I guess couchsurfing makes it feel smaller and more beautifully human!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I remember the best wave I ever caught surfing. I was out at my local break of Morro Bay, warm in my wetsuit despite the winter chill. Morro Rock glowed with dawn light. The waves were big enough to hurt. As the wind blew stronger from the shore, huge rainbow-refracted drops rained down as each wave broke behind me. When I finally caught my wave, I dropped eight feet down the steep face, straight through a wall of rainbow mist, and skimmed clean through the roaring barrel to the other side. I was jazzed for a week!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am excited to learn almost anything. I am especially interested in learning drawing, painting, cooking, knowledge about the natural world, and mountaineering.

I can teach and share:
my love and knowledge of the outdoors
fiction writing workshops
digital or film photography
meditation
anything about psychology, neuroscience, or cell biology
english or spanish
books I bring with me to give to hosts
if you give me a subject you've been meaning to learn, I will look into it and host a fun presentation!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very flexible guest. I am good at sharing space, being quiet/respectful and having a good time out of the house. However, I love social spaces and love sharing my spirit and knowledge with other people. I am happy to cook for hosts, help them learn something they've been meaning to learn, be a date to that pesky office party, or anything else. Overall I can offer homemade curry, good company and a healthy appreciation of community activity.
