About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue on this great ascending path of happiness with my fiance/best friend

ABOUT ME

My father was a wayfarer and moved away when I was a kid, so I got a strong taste for traveling and adventure at an early age. My happiness depends on new experiences, even if they're in my back yard. I love food, photography, books, writing, bike rides, good people, and music.

PHILOSOPHY

Find the good in everything.

A wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

Contrarily, I'll talk your ear off with stories :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I served a skinny vanilla latte to Hulk Hogan.

I hitchhiked on Kuaiii Island in Hawaii and accidentally ended up at Shooting Horn, where ocean water shoots forty feet in the air through the solidified network of air bubbles in cooled lava. Then, I wandered into a Kona coffee plantation nearby and painted the landscape, ultimately hiking back down the hill to a

Rode a horse through Klondike National Park in Alaska and came out into a clearing where glacier shelves hung like great alabaster tables.

Hugged six kittens at the base of the Parthenon.

Watched a stray dog pee on a fountain at Pompeii.

Walked down the middle of Broadway with my step-mom during a snow storm that dumped three feet of snow on Manhattan.

Ate mushrooms and got lost at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Ooh la la, what a day.

Spent a day in the store rooms at the McCord Museum in Montreal, Quebec studying Mohawk cradleboards for my thesis.

Shared one of the best days of my life talking about the history of cradleboard embellishment with Mohawk cradleboard maker Babe Hemlock and his wife, artist Carla Hemlock, at the Kahnawahke (ga-nah-wa-geh) Mohawk Reservation.

Stood nude in front of the Met as artist Andy Golub(http://www.andygolub.com/) painted my body and a group of forty Japanese tourists snapped my picture and their tour stood aghast.

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't be afraid of lower Harlem in New York. If you drive, there is a parking spot that is perfectly safe and free just on the north end of Marcus Garvey Park in front of a little "bike shop" that is, essentially, the garage that a bunch of neighborhood guys work out of. You can even buy a cheap used bike there and they will watch over your vehicle.

Have a "garbage plate" in Rochester, New York.

Not all Americans are gluttonous, loud jerks. Believe me, I'm pretty pessimistic about the people and I'm related to a lot of stereotypes, but I believe in setting a good example. I hope our differences can be met with understanding however and wherever we meet.

I want to learn other people's stories and write them down along with my own to share with others someday.

I'm always interested in how others come to find happiness.
