About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working hard all summer and playing on the weekends, so I can travel and couchsurf in the fall.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Seattle and came up to Alaska after high school. Back then I didn't really know two shits about anything, but met a great group of friends who helped shape me into the person I am today.

I live my life around outdoor pursuits like climbing and skiing, and love to share my enthusiasm with others and seek adventure on a daily basis.

I graduated college at the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2009 and have been focusing on climbing, traveling and writing since.

I believe that we only get one life and it is important to live every day to the fullest extent. When I get old and gray (I don't have much hair so maybe I won't make it to gray anyways) I want to look back and laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of my life in all its adventures and journeys.

PHILOSOPHY

Be happy all the time.

Pick up hitchhikers.

Ask before you tell.

Never trust a person who has a small backpack with wheels.

Pulp-Free orange juice is for sissies!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I LOVE to HOST people as much as I love to surf!

If you come to Alaska, I will try to take you climbing, skiing, hiking, biking and bar hopping around Anchorage.

I hope you like salmon, because I will probably try to feed you fresh caught wild Alaskan salmon.
Basically, I love fun. It is fun to have fun.
If you like to have fun, hit me up!

I host guys, girls, gay couples, straight couples, groups of friends, sinners, saints, heathens, nuns, brainiacs, dimwits, halfwits...everyone!

When I surf, I like to show up with a six pack of beer or a plan for dinner. I don't smoke, and I try to smell good!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I originally got into couchsurfing through a friend. Many of his surfers became good friends of ours. I have met up with several previous surfers in different parts of the country to climb and travel. Many CSers have become life long friends!

I was lucky enough to stay at the Couchsurfing 'basecamp' in downtown San Francisco. It was really cool to see the inner workings of the whole system.

In the past year I've hosted nearly 20 people from all parts of the United States, Austria, Australia and beyond. It has been great to make many good friends in the process.

I've couchsurfed up the Alaska-Canada Highway, too!

Interests

Adventure and fun, good times all the time, smelling weird things, living on the fringe, making a scene, laughing...A LOT!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The views from the top of big mountains is pretty hard to beat.

My mom died of cancer in January 2013. She was labeled as terminal ten years earlier and beat cancer six times. She never let it get her down. My mom lived more in her last eleven years than most people do in a lifetime.

I was able to spend the last month of her life with her. Although she was ravaged by cancer, she still laughed, joked and sang until her final days. Six days before she died, she went on a final horseback ride with my 82-year-old grandpa.

I will always admire her strength and positive attitude.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ask about others before telling about yourself.

Life is every day. Live it accordingly.
