Hello there! I’m Rebeca. Most of my family and close friends call me Chachi, but Beca, for short, works just fine. I’m from New York City. I was born and raised in an area of the city called East Harlem, which is colloquially referred to as ‘El Barrio’. I love traveling and when I have the time and means to do so, I try to explore places I have little to no knowledge of or have never seen before. Aside from travel I enjoy writing, reading on Latin American and Caribbean history and culture, and take a keen interest in US politics. Fiction is a genre I turn to when I want to read on less pressing matters. NYT and the Guardian are my go-to reads in the am, and I try to squeeze in an article or two during my morning commute to work. I have a BA in Analytic Phil and MS in Politics, so I do take interest in dense, highly theoretical writing. As you can see: reading is sort of my thing; but so are other fun things like dance and laughter. I’d be happy to enjoy moments of dancing and laughing, among other things, with people from this platform. 🙂
