About Me

***NO COPY-AND-PASTE REQUESTS! IT'S ALWAYS OBVIOUS! WRITE ME A PERESONALISED MESSAGE OR YOU WILL BE DECLINED***

Max. Number of Guests: 1!

PEOPLE I ACCEPT
*Music obsessives.
*People who like cats
*Keen photographers.
*People who play go (baduk, wei qi)
*Tea/beer/cocktail enthusiasts

I also have a boy-girl-boy-girl rule (I think it's a shame that lots of guys get turned down because sleazy men are hoping to get lucky with their female surfers).

PEOPLE I DON'T ACCEPT
*People who don't like cats
*Paulo Coelho fans. There are few eternal truths in life - one of them is that The Alchemist is an awful book.
*Copy-and-paste requests
*Travelers who are trying to cram the whole world into two months and have a budget of just 10 euros a day, eating pasta and tomato sauce every night. My opinion of traveling is that you take your budget and you adjust your travel time to suit your budget. Don't travel for longer than you can afford. If you stay with me, we're going to go OUT - a beer or two in a cool bar, maybe dinner (not expensive - maybe 10 euros).
I'm a travel writer who has spent time in Spain, Japan and France in the past few years. Building my nest here in Berlin now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, I suggest events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with a couchsurfer in Romania, met a few couchsurfers afterwards - one in Moldova and one in Beijing - and then moved to Paris and really got involved. Now in Berlin.

Interests

Writing, music, travel, languages and drinks (particularly tea and cocktails).

Music, Movies, and Books

All music... really, all genres. But I know people often think that means I have no interest in music, so I'll elaborate.

I have always liked the general 'indie/alternative' music world, but I don't listen to it so much anymore.

Instead I listen to a lot of Afrobeat (Fela Kuti, Orchestre Poly-Rhytmo de Cotonou etc) and tons of German music from the 1970s - Kraftwerk, NEU!, Cluster, Can, Faust, etc. But especially Kraftwerk.

I also like early electronica - the stuff that people were doing in the 1970s and 1980s before everyone had sequencers. 'Cold Wave' is a common term for some of it.

Then there's Bollywood, 1970s/1980s New Wave (Joy Division, Gang of Four...), Cuban music, James Brown, Nina Simone, Devo, The Carpenters, Melt Banana. Oh, and of course, Depeche Mode. And ZZ Top...

The list goes on....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ate donkey in 2009.

I saw two pigeons have a fight in Montmartre in 2010.

Yup, that sums me up - violence-loving meat eater.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you about the Chinese game of go (baduk, wei qi), tea, cocktails, maybe a bit about photography. And, of course, music!
