About Me

ABOUT ME

After a lifetime of happy wandering, I've settled in the heart of the Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts, though I hope to continue having adventures both near and far. Prior to settling down here four years ago, the longest I ever lived anywhere was a tie between the three years I spent in Bangkok, Thailand and the three years I spent in Gwangju, South Korea. The impulse to explore new places and meet new people, first fostered by my itinerant childhood, never wore off. I'm completely addicted to travel. Basically, if I haven't been there before I'm interested in going and if I've been there I probably want to go back.

My partner, Sarah, and I have recently purchased a lovely old house in Holyoke, MA (about 10 minutes south of Northampton). Sarah is a speech pathologist and I work from home. My disabled father lives with us (in a bedroom on the first floor) and we usually have one or two twenty-something tenants here as well. There is a very friendly dog and an equally friendly cat in our house.

We are dedicated to keeping our house queer-friendly, anti-racist, anti-abelist and affirming of all diversity including neurodiversity and gender/gender expression diversity and we are especially eager to host other queers and marginalized peoples.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am happy to host surfers as long as it works with my schedule and you send me a genuine message that shows you read my profile. The first floor of our home is wheelchair accessible, including the bathroom though you would have to sleep in the living room unless my dad is out of town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been on this site forever but have barely been able to couchsurf. I love the idea of it and want to do much more of it in the future. All the couch surfers I've met around the world and at local events have been awesome!

Interests

I love cooking, hiking, reading, nerdy subjects like ancient languages and just generally relaxing with good friends and good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Our house is full of books and we refer to our guest room as "the comic book library" so if you're interested in comics you're coming to the right place. We are both big nerds and watch a lot of sci-fi and cartoons.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a year traveling around the US living in different places and doing different types of volunteer service.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to practice speaking Spanish and would like to help other people learn English.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, United Kingdom
