About Me

My goal is to live a happy, healthy and peaceful life.
I enjoy meeting new people, sharing experiences, helping others and learning from different cultures.

I'm passionate about literature, music, and languages. I love exploring the world, either through books, by traveling, or just meeting new people.
I also like dumb memes and sarcasm.

I'm a Linguistic professor. I teach courses on languages, literature, films and Spanish-language.

I was born and raised in Quindío, Colombia. Moved to the US in 2017.

ME AS A SURFER:
I like to think I don't travel to visit places, but to visit people.

I often have mixed feelings about the way people travel to fancy destinations and stay at luxurious hotels; they might get the general picture, but they definitely miss the real experience. Like hovering above the planet in a helicopter with a pair of binoculars...

AS A HOST:
I value respect, kindness and communication above all.

Keep in mind, please: this is Couchsurfing, a community; NOT A FREE-AIRBNB APP!

I don't like to dance, going to pubs, or getting drunk; so please keep it in mind as I might not be your best option.

On the other hand, if you're someone who travels and enjoys the anthropological side of Couchsurfing, and want to drink tea and talk about life, our experiences and our dreams in life, don't hesitate in sending me a request.
Or please check my "music and literature" section below and see if we have any likes in common.

Couchsurfing is all about sharing, learning, and making meaningful connections. Creating a more human and better world. Let's keep this culture alive!

Welcome to Philly, mi casa es tu casa!

Interests

“It may be important to great thinkers to examine the world, to explain and despise it. But I think it is only important to love the world, not to despise it, not for us to hate each other, but to be able to regard the world and ourselves and all beings with love, admiration and respect.”
― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

Swimming with galapago turtles in Ecuador.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a regular attendee of jazz concerts every Thursday and symphony orchestra performances most Fridays. If you share my love of jazz or classical music, I would be thrilled to have you join me for an evening of beautiful music.

Also, as a member of the art museum, I can get you discounted tickets.

On Sunday mornings, I like to get out into nature and go hiking. If you're up for a scenic walk, I'll pack some extra water and snacks for us to enjoy along the way.

If you are into road trips and want to explore the outsides of Philadelphia, we can split gas and tolls and go on a an adventure!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I was born and raised in Colombia, and in 2019, I moved to Philadelphia. I have fallen in love with this city and all its charm, and I am excited to share it with you.

I've collected an extensive library of books about the city's rich history, vibrant culture, and must-see destinations. I would be happy to guide you through the city and offer my personal recommendations for parks, scenic walks, and delicious food spots.

Having traveled extensively myself, I know how important it is to feel at home while on the road. That's why I strive to provide a welcoming and cozy atmosphere in my home. You'll always find fresh coffee and tea, but most importantly, friendship and respect. A true travel experience is about connecting with people as much as exploring new places.
