Über mich
Hi, I am 54 and single. I am ultra easy going. I love to have conversation and hear about the amazing experiences of other people, and I share my own when I get a chance! I have a craving for new perspectives on life, so I have decided to travel outside of the United States in search of these perspectives. I feel strongly that these experiences will deliver wonderful insights outside of my own culture. I am self employed in the construction trades, specializing in old home renovations. I have a nice but small home near the Intracoastal Waterway, located between Charleston, south Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. I have lived here for almost 15 years.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I want to couch surf for a couple of reasons. I plan to stay in countries I am visiting for longer than just a week or so, to spend time immersing in the culture there. I would relish the conversation with host's about all kinds of things, including things to see and do, and to learn about the area I am visiting. Afterall my journeys are about new perspectives and what better way to get them by staying with local people. The other reason is purely economic. Since I plan to stay longer in country, It is cheaper to stay on someones couch than paying for a B&B every night!

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I am constantly reading, usually 4 books at a time are open on the table in front of the sofa. I love to read collections of short stories. I am fascinated by the way writers make a big impact with the short story. One of my favorite books is a Pulitzer Prize winner called The Exciting Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon. It is about a polish escape artist and comic cartoonist during the WWII era.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
The one most amazing thing I have done was to be a bush pilot in Alaska for 2 years. I have lived in Fairbanks and Barrow, the farthest north one can live in North America. I observed the native Inuit culture and participated in traditional whaling adventures, among others. I have seen extraordinary wildlife and beautiful unspoiled country. I flew between the northwest coast of Alaska on the Bearing Sea side to Kaktovik on the Canadian border.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I am a pretty good conversationalist and I have studied tons of topics in my lifetime.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I am neat, clean and helpful. I go to bed fairly early and get up around 7 am. I am quiet and considerate. I can share as much or as little as my host has interest.
