About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to find the beauty in all aspects of life, no matter where I am or who I'm with..

ABOUT ME

I'm a positive individual that seeks like-minded people that can see the beauty in life. I feel grateful for all that I have and I strive to appreciate every day. Paradise is here and now. God is you. Assume the best and you will be taken care of. I choose to surround myself with energies that further this celebration of life.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't let the past define your present which will create your future. Reverse it. Let your ideas for the future decide your present! The past will inevitably happen.

How much meaning is there in things? Think about it. Cultivate experiences. Challenge yourself. Face fear. Assume good things. Keep a fresh perspective. Always prioritize and remember what's important.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I admire this community because of its ability to further people's travels and help humanity to understand each other better. There's so much angst in the world, but I think that is because people think that we are all so different. The more people that we meet from different walks of life, and the more similarities that we find among these people, the greater our chances of working together and maximizing our human potential to evolve in the right direction. Small acts of kindness have a ripple effect on all of humanity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have mainly hosted because I really enjoy creating a comfortable space and bringing people together. I hope to surf more someday. But in the meantime, hosting allows me to nurture my karma and show people in the world that trust and kindness exists. I've enjoyed everybody I've met through this program and consider CouchSurfing to be one of the most powerful and memorable experiences I have had in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I've gotta learn something or gain a new perspective to watch movies. What About Me, What the Bleep do we Know, Waking Life, Zeitgeist, Michael Moore, Baraka, Dead Poets Society, Easy Rider, Lost in Translation, Office Space, The English Patient, Trainspotting, Gandhi, Grass, Super Size Me, Touching the Void, Fog of War, Future of Food, The Corporation, The Weather Underground, The Yes Men.

Music: I had pretty moderate tastes in music back when I was a kid--Barry Manilow, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson. But music struck a deep passion within me during college. Since then, I've become engulfed in the world of electronic music. I believe there are different kinds of electronica that can heighten most any situation. Bent, Kompakt, Four Tet, Royksopp, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Underworld, Mark Farina, Detroit Escalator Company, Planet E, Bluetech, Sounds from the Ground, Zero 7, Tosca. I can fully appreciate and respect other music: Grateful Dead, Beatles, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Nick Drake, Putamayo, The Sea and Cake, El Ten Eleven, Broken Social Scene, Postal Service, Buddha Bar.

Books: The Art of Loving (Fromm), The Course of Miracles, A Return to Love, An Inconvenient Truth, What the Buddha Taught, Way to Wisom (Jaspers), Ishmael (Daniel Quinn), Orientalism (Said), The Fountainhead (Rand), The Tipping Point, The Flickering Mind, Siddhartha, The Prophet, The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, On the Road, Bryson's The Mother Tongue, A Walk in the Woods, and A Brief History of Nearly Everything; Huxley's A Brave New World, Eckhart Tolle, Maharishi's The Science of Being and the Art of Living, The Celestine Prophecy, Castanada's Teachings of Don Juan, Csikszentmihalyi's Flow, Lao Tsu's Tao Te Ching, Superpower Syndrome, Bringers of the Dawn, The Alchemist, Zinn's People's History of the United States, Hawkin's A Brief History of Time. And there are more...my books are one of my most prized possessions.
