About Me

I am a civil engineer and a grad student at the University of Cincinnati. Couchsurfing has been a lovely experience for me to meet travelers and to know about their place and interests. The most precious things to me are new experiences and the best ones I've had so far I had them while traveling. I enjoy a deep pleasure in staying out of my comfort zone, unplanned adventures, trying things I've never done before and meeting people with different views and interests. I like backpacking, hiking and rock-climbing and I am a huge fan of places with a historical story and architecture. While I am in my city, you may find me as a part of a theater group or organization, teaching a class, studying, at an eatery or swing dancing. I haven't explored everything my city has to offer but I would love to show around the nearby attractions and events.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling on a student budget can be challenging and I love the concept of couchsurfing. To me, traveling solo is fine but it's not as good as having someone you can share your experiences with. Guides and websites are okay but suggestions from a local can beat them all. There are places to visit which sometimes don't feature in a travel book but might be quite popular with the locals. It's quite interesting to observe the way of life at a particular place and the cultural beliefs of people you meet while traveling or hosting. I am quite respectful of that and observing and seeing things from different angles has been my motto for hosting as well as surfing. Couchsurfing is an opportunity for me to meet awesome people and learn something new everytime. As a host, I am looking for people who are enthusiastic about new experiences and to share a few with them. I would love to explore my city with you. If you are reading this and wish to request a stay, feel free to message me and don't forget INCLUDE a favorite place you’ve been to and one thing to do from your bucket-list.

Interests

I like visiting national and state parks for hiking or climbing or to learn about the history of that place. I usually like to camp when I travel. Apart from that, I like theatre and dancing a lot and also trying local cuisines. I usually work as a teacher since I enjoy teaching other students. I am a curious person and I have varied interests and am quite open to newer ones. Best to discuss in person.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Depends on what I am currently doing (jazz/blues while dancing, folk while I am cooking, oldies while I am traveling and Bollywood music anytime).
Movies: I don't watch a lot. But I enjoy plays and movies which have been beautifully scripted and directed.
Books: Well, the list is long. I like crime fiction the most.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Me and my friends completed one of the hardest treks in India in Sikkim called the GoechaLa Pass. It was a 7 day trek reaching to the base camp of Kangchenjunga at a height of 16000 ft. I haven't stopped hiking mountains since then.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach primitive backpacking skills and cooking local and Indian foods.
I would like to learn something amazing about every country and the way of life there. When it comes to learning, I am quite open-minded to interesting skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my favorite experiences and some great stories from my life. As a couchsurfer, I believe that it's quite difficult to know person in just a day. So I would not like to stay just one night with my host unless it's extremely necessary. Maybe spending a day or two at their place, traveling around the city, trying some local food and building a deeper connection sounds like an ideal experience if it suits the host. That being said, I respect the hosts' personal spaces and work schedules and I would make sure I don't disturb them. I can cook some great Indian food, pizza and sandwiches for my hosts. I am quite acceptable to the fact that a few hosts might not be able to host me but if they would like to hang out, I would love that too!
