About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

ABOUT ME

I am an openminded and friendly person who loves to laugh and make people laugh. I grew up in the Netherlands and am from a Turkish family. I studied nursing but have worked as a translator and writer for years and now am getting prepared for being an English teacher. As you can tell, I love variety. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Fear is an obstacle for some people, but it is an illusion to me. Failure always made me try harder next time.

- Open your heart to change. But don't let go of your values.
Dalai Lama.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I was still living in Istanbul I was very active in CS with hosting and meetings. I loved to show people around and tell them about the Turkish and Ottoman culture. Istanbul is a beautiful city that has a lot to tell. For the last year I lived in Barcelona for work and had a splendid time over there. I hosted there too and attended meetings to get to know more about the Catalunain and Spanish culture. It is fabulous and I feel it's very close to the Turkish one.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Pretty much all my experiences with Couchsurfing were great. I have met so many wonderful people from all around the world, so many countries and cultures and learned a lot. It's great to be able to do this in a very friendly enviroment.

Interests

Everything new, intelligent and fun are in my interests.

Good music and good food is ALWAYS appreciated. I am very good at listening to good music, but better at cooking food. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Writers: Maeve Binchy, Duygu Asena, Stephen King, Dan Brown, Ahmet Altan, Elif Şafak, Kürşat Başar.

I like the movies of Timur Bekmambetov, Coen brothers, Tim Burton, Darren Aranofski, Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, Stephen King, Roman Polanski, Guy Richie.

I like pretty much every sound that makes me feel how I need to feel at that moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've went to Van - Erciş as a volunteer nurse end October 2011 after the big earthquack. I was there for two weeks which was a sad but also wonderful experience. I can easily say this was the most amazing thing I've ever did in my entire life.

I vaccinated 1-6 months old babies.

I puked on Amsterdam Square during daytime. Too much flowers. Cheers.
