About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To ever-increasingly better myself and become happier. To be.

ABOUT ME

Currently studying journalism and finishing up my degree and diploma. (Last updated June 25th 2015) About me: I love music, I love life, I love food, I love animals, I love my friends and family, and I love traveling. I try to lead a healthy life and be as active and athletic as I can. I'm part of an Ultimate Frisbee team in my home town of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Ultimate is my favorite sport - it's the greatest sport on earth! I enjoy writing, whether it be poems, my journal, song writing, but lately I'm been concentrating on travel writing for my travel blog. I've been gifted with the best family and friends a person can ask for, and can't wait to meet many more people on the road, and at home! I enjoy food, lots and lots of food. I love cooking and eating diverse foods from all over the world (specifically South Asia, and SE Asia). I'm happy to say that I'm in my third year of vegetarianism. I love the new - I am seeking new experiences, I love experiencing new cultures, food, music and many more things, and I hope I can do those things with you and learn about you and your county! I love to ride a bicycle, which is my preferred method of transit in town. I entered University at the age of 25, completing two years and thereafter leaving for my third long-term trip bringing my total days of travel to 1000. I would say my personality sometimes leans more towards the introvert side, as I like to relax, enjoy quite time, and just chill. But, I also love meeting new people, going out, and full-tilt adrenaline pumping experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First thing's first - I became a member. I've done more surfing than hosting, but I hope to host more often in the future. I've met wonderful people through CS and I try and spread the word about such a great idea, and community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met very kind, diverse, hospitable, and genuine people through my experiences. I hope my future experiences are of similar quality, and I have a good feeling they will be!

Interests

I love music: playing guitar, writing songs, sharing music with others, listening, jamming. I enjoy reading, learning about history and culture, adventure, playing badminton, walking, bicycling, hiking, meeting people and making friends, being outside and enjoying nature, watching documentary films, continuously learning, and I'm passionate about cooking vegetarian food! Ultimate (frisbee) is my favorite sport. And, of course, I live and breath all things related to travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like I said, I love music! I've been playing guitar since I was 14. I listen to a broad spectrum of music, and highly enjoy instrumental acoustic music.
Music: Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Matthew Good, The Beatles, Bon Iver, Air, Yann Tiersen, Ludovico Einaudi, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Fleet Foxes, jazz
Books: Life of Pi, Brave New World, Scar Tissue, Open, The Story Of B, The Alchemist, Shantaram, The Beach, The Rum Diary, Vagabonding, 1984.
Movies: Dances with Wolves, The Count Of Monte Cristo, Amelie, Lost in Translation, Into the Wild, The Motorcycle Diaries, Baraka, Happy People: A Year in the Taiga, and many documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being alive! Travelled for 1000 days. Visiting architectural places of interest such as the Taj Mahal. Attending a full moon party in Ko Phagnan. Listening to many of my favorite musicians! Being able to have lived/live this type of life. Spending time in the Amazon. Hiking to Machu Picchu. Hiking for 16 days in the Nepalese Himalayas. Celebrating Holi in India. Hitchhiking for 7 weeks through the Balkans. 10 day silent Vipassana meditation. Driving 2,000 kilometers in through Morocco. Traveling in general! Being grateful for this life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll learn whatever you're willing to teach me :). I look forward to learning many new skills.
I would be happy to share my music with you - I can teach beginner guitar lessons, too. I can help with English language lessons. I can also teach and share my vegetarian cooking skills (or lack thereof!).
