About Me

I work in writing on the side, and am exploring a career change from Film/Video Post-Production to something with less crazy hours.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting people, traveling, and it was recommended to me all the way back in 2010 or so. I attended one gathering around that time in Berkeley, CA.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I ruptured my right achilles tendon, I bought a sort of knee crutch so I could walk around and my upper leg muscles wouldn't atrophy. It's got a sort of platform you kneel on, and a crutch below - it operates similarly to a prosthetic leg.

After not much time, I started doing my usual stretching while waiting in lines (standing on one leg and then the other), balancing on a stick with a rubber foot 1.5 inches wide, while holding my other leg behind me in a quad stretch. I could walk without a limp, too.

It cut my recovery time down drastically, and I guess it's "amazing" because I got comments all the time about how extraordinary it was.

Teach, Learn, Share

My favorite thing is learning new things, so anything I can't teach I'd like to learn.

I can (without preparation that is) teach some history, basic drumming, how to make a hot spring egg in an oven, things almost no one in the US knows about sushi and sashimi, a lot about vegan cooking, how to drive safely, how to drive a stick, how to unload a gun to make it safe, basic economics and personal finance, how to make a perfect grilled cheese sandwich on a stove, and what to bring to drive across the country and be prepared for anything.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Photography services, humor, full-service video production for very short-form projects, food, neologisms on demand, access to the OED, responsibilities, music you've never heard of and is out of print, fun.
