About Me

I’m currently in Brazil - was in Bahia for three months till the end of February, then making my way slowly round the north coast by bus and boat to Brazilian and Peruvian Amazonia. , then going to Chile, the USA and Canada , interested in invitations anywhere !
I'm looking for female hosts in Belem , Santarem and Puerto Maldonado (Peru) if possible!

When I’m not travelling I live in an eco-cohousing project by the side of the river Lune, in Halton, near Lancaster, in the north west of England. I went on a six month travelling adventure in 2018 that took in milking goats in Ireland, sailing in Sardinia, Klezmer dancing in Germany, and seeing friends in Switzerland and Spain - during which I recorded and edited 7 episodes of a podcast called ‘Fiona’s Travels - fascinating conversations and traditional music”. (available wherever you get your podcasts, as they say!) I love Klezmer music and Klezmer dancing - and teach Klezmer dancing wherever I get the chance. I play English, Irish and European folk music on melodeon and a bit of Klezmer on concertina. I love being outside on boats.
I've spent a lot of time promoting the art of my late aunt, the Glasgow artist Hannah Frank. Up till 2020 I worked part time in Scotland organising cultural events for the Scottish Jewish community, and part time in Lancaster organising a local coworking and event space. Sadly my 19 year old cat died at the end of 2022 but it means I can travel a bit more I suppose...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

helped to crew a tall ship from Oban to Cornwall (June 2017).

Organised an international festival about the Amazon Rainforest in November 2022 in and around Lancaster UK , with an exhibition, a 2 day international conference, and 20 activities in 10 venues, to honour the lives of Dom Phillips and Bruno Pereira, and others who have lost their lives defending the rainforest. Dom and Bruno were murdered in the Brazilian Amazon in June 22, while Dom was researching a book 'How to Save the Amazon'. Dom's sister Sian is a friend .
