About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue "catching" babies all over the world and to be able to do at least one mission trip a year to train Traditional Birth Attendants.

ABOUT ME

I am a mother to 3, a young grandma to 6, and a midwife to many. I love what I do. I love traveling (obviously) and I love reading.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that all people should educated themselves on all aspects of their lives. Birth, what they put into their kids, healthy living, etc. The internet is this amazing powerhouse of info that most people don't tap into. Informed and educated people are people that are ready for just about anything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to meet like minded travelers and also educate people about my area of the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met two women while traveling in China in 2005. Mentioned that I was going to Vanuatu later that year and they insisted that I come sleep on their couches in Sydney for a few days before going on mission trip. They took most excellent care of me!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Just saw Wild Hogs this morning, Hysterical! I love comedies, romantic comedies, light and easy stuff. Books... crime novels by Patterson, Cook, and many others.
Music... easy listening, buddist monk chanting, african drums, soft rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Vanuatu was probably the most amazing thing I've ever done. Tromping through the mountainous terrain to remote villages, staying in huts, sleeping on the floor amongst spiders and getting over my fears, living on a sailboat for over 3 weeks with people I didn't know prior to the trip and surviving! Meeting all these amazing people who live w/o electric, cars, phones, computers, really simple, non stressful lives!I also quit smoking on that trip, it's been 6 years! I am very proud of myself each day for that amazing accomplishment. I want to go back to Vanuatu one day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would say that if you are pregnant, or thinking of pregnancy, check out home birth or birth center births. The less interventions the safer the birth. There are studies out there that show that out of hospital birthing is as safe, if not safer than hospital birthing. Know your choices then decide. Make yourself an educated consumer! :)
