ABOUT ME
My family is originally from Costa Rica (asi que hablo espanol sin problema) but I was raised in Houston Texas USA. For the past 6 years I have been working in Cancer Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. I just got into a PA graduate school program at Baylor College of Medicine and will start school in late June. But before I start school, I am going to travel South America May 8 - June 13. I am very easy going, courteous, and I get along with everyone, honestly. I really enjoy traveling, music of all types, learning new cultures, especially pop-culture, and meeting nice people around the world.
PHILOSOPHY
While you are what you eat, you also are who you meet. Meeting people and sharing experiences make up who we are, shape our personalities and values, and define self. I'm basically a giant mix of the people I have met. No one is a stranger, just a friend I haven't met.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to couchsurfing, but I hope to participate by introducing any visitor of Houston Texas USA to this large international city. I am also willing to share any travel tips about "mi patria" Costa Rica. My extended family lives in Costa Rica and I will gladly share my suggestions to this awesome country to make sure you love this country as much as I do. Pura Vida!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to CS, but I think this is a wonderful concept and a great opportunity to connect with people around the world, even if it's for just for a cup of coffee or tips about where I should go when I am in your town. I recently attended my first Couchsurfing event here in Houston, and I enjoyed meeting such an eclectic group of people. Everyone was very interesting and had so many stories to share about their Couchsurfing experience. I hope to share my stories with other couchsurfers one day!
Interests
I like traveling, understanding new cultures and meeting people, and learning about societies. I really like anything related to pop-culture. I like thinking and laughing. I like all types of art, from performance art (Cirque de Soleil) to my favorite type of art, music. In fact, I play bass guitar for a few bands in Texas, from rock to jazz. I like collecting musical instruments from around the world (preferably small instruments, so they can fit in my bags). I also just got into DJ-ing, and I have been playing global lounge and downtempo music sets. I like sports and exercise. I like playing and watching sports, preferably in a stadium rather than in front of a TV. For the past two years I have been a personal trainer at a gym in Houston. What else... Did I mention I like people? I look forward to practicing medicine and helping people stay healthy when I complete my graduate program.

Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: It's never too late, but do it soon.
Learn: I would like to learn about the pop-culture in your area. (i.e. grass-roots movements, non-profit organizations, small trends, hipster projects, underground sub-cultures or unique art.)
Share: I'll share with you an example of something pop-cultural that I would like to do when I am in Buenos Aires. This is fascinating to me: http://www.graffitimundo.com/
