About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To understand, a bit more, the language of my body. I'm wanting to transform my yoga practice, but work gets in the way.

ABOUT ME

Not much more to me -- I have great friends, and my life revolves around them, yoga, and baroque music. I don't practice the cello enough to improve, much to my teacher's chagrin. I'm an okay pianist, though.

If you want to surf in my home, you must be okay with LGBT, or be one yourself. I don't accept any homophobia or racism in my home. No drugs, please.

You'll find me willing to crack open a bottle of italian wine on your arrival, or to make you espressi and capuccini in the morning. I collect single malt scotch, but rarely drink it myself.

If you are a musician, great! -- classical/baroque geek here: countertenor, harpsichordist (the new one is brilliant), and learning to play the cello. I want a viola da gamba! That said, why did I just buy an organetto?

I'm very interested in many yoga styles, though am seriously dedicated to only the one now (Scaravelli-inspired, with Diane Long). Check out Diane sometime: www.dianelongyoga.com. Freakishly good teacher, though she will pull the rug out from under your practice.

Come play my piano for me, and tell me about yourself. I live in the nicest city surrounded by very little. If you are silly enough to come in winter, I have good central heating, and can find you sweaters and gloves somehow.

PHILOSOPHY

Really, after being rescheduled a number of times, the rapture is just not coming.

Not Christian, but I'm okay if you are, provided you are okay that I am not. Not religious at all, really, but you fill your boots as you please.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Very much enjoying the people I have met through their staying with me, though you should respond somehow if I accept your requests, accepting my hosting in turn.

Quite a few times lately I've accepted surfers, only to have them not show up at all, or to have them let me know the morning after they were to arrive that they decided to go or stay elsewhere. This can make a person worry, so really just don't be shy to say, "I'm staying somewhere else." It's natural to cover your bases, but don't leave me with a room ready, and staying up late to greet you... when you are already asleep somewhere else. I really appreciate those who were kind enough to phone in advance (or as soon as they could) about their changes in plans.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am all about the free bed tour of friends' homes... but am completely respectful, and unobtrusive. Travel is only intermittent because of work, and mostly to Italy these days for yoga. I'm happy to host, with little expectation of surfing myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to a Paolo Conte concert near Milan. He was brilliant, even at 75 years of age. I bonded with a little dolphin in Vancouver -- set me back on my heels. Had a lesson with Michael Chance once.... that was amazing. James Bowman, too. He was particularly fun.

I always put my foot in my mouth.
