About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Conservation, Harmony and Friendship

ABOUT ME

I am a 53 year-old graduate of the University of Oregon and Loyola University, MD. In the fall of 2009 I spent a semester abroad in Macerata, Italy. I have a masters in Montessori Education and have studied photography, Art and Graphic Design.
I have an affinity for children and have worked in Montessori education since 2011.
My passions are the environment, children, photography, cooking, sailing, dancing and traveling.
I am ecologically-minded and try to live sustainably as much as I can. I recently installed solar panels on my home and bought a Tesla. I really enjoy some of the ways Europeans conserve resources, I think the US needs to follow suit in many areas.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind, understanding and respectful. Respect all people and your surroundings...we are all part of the web of life. Things happen...not always the way we would like them to, be grateful and just go with the flow. Knowledge makes life interesting, if you aren't learning something new you may as well be in a box in the ground. Peace and love are the answer, it doesn't matter what the question is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to share my culture with others and come to better understand other cultures. I like to build friendships and foster peace and communication among different countries and would like to improve the image many foreigners have of Americans.

Because I also rent my available room on another site I prefer to host foreign visitors on CS as I am doing this as a cultural exchange...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had some great CouchSurfing experiences through this organization and through other avenues...and wish to offer similar experiences to others

Interests

I enjoy music; especially live, acoustic music. I love to dance; I have been an avid dancer since 2005 (waltz, Latin dances and contra, Argentine Tango and recently West Coast Swing). I enjoy history and literature, especially from the middle ages/Renaissance. I love to be outdoors and enjoy the ocean, mountains or just a walk in the park. I like to sail, hike and ski. I am a bit reserved and sometimes have trouble meeting people but I truly enjoy learning about other cultures and am really drawn to people of different cultural backgrounds. I am also a member of the Society of Creative Anachronism...www.SCA.org. I am spiritual but not necessarily religious. I practice yoga and meditation. I adore the Italian language, and the country and people of Italy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most genres of music, though my favorite genres are folk and Celtic. I also like everything from classic rock-n-roll to classical music (though I can do without heavy metal and Rap). I am very interested in natural medicine and a natural lifestyle so many of the books that I read relate to those subjects. My preferred movies include; Comedies, Action, Documentary and Thrillers...and I am a woman so of course I like romances. I am particularly fond of anything relating to time travel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

New Zealand is amazingly beautiful and I hope to go back there someday. But more amazing than the scenery are people...I am constantly amazed by the generosity of some people and I am always grateful to meet people with generous hearts.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and love to share recipes and learn local dishes from wherever I visit. I also am interested in organic gardening and natural medicine, I would be happy to share what knowledge I have and hear advice from others. I will give what I am able and gratefully accept what others are willing to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In the past I have enjoyed cooking a meal for my host if the time allows.

Countries I’ve Visited
