About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Most people/travellers believe that there are only a few places in the world which are worth to visit: megalopolis, high high high peaks. I can disprove by way of a 'small landscape' embedded in the little known Jura Mountains.

ABOUT ME

I like endurance-demanding intellectual and physical activities: chess-playing and cycling. I look at phenomena from a historical, biological, scientific, philosophical, economical, ecological viewpoint.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am rather a provider of rooms than user of it, as I am currently living in a big house with 2 floors. I want to show that it may be often more rewarding to stay in a village than in a town. The big garden, the old-style village, the nearby forests and hills (Jura), the free community swimming pool, the easy trips by one of my 3 bicycles and 2 scooters to the attractions in the neighbourhood: the Jura forest, the castle, the village (one of the 100 nicest in Switzerland).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great chance to learn to know new people, to overcome the social barriers between within society. It becomes somehow demanding, especially after the 3rd day, to share nearly everything with others. Therefore I suggest to surf 3 or 4 days the most, unless at special circumstances.

Cycling in one day from Sagua de Tanamo (North Cuba) over the Sierra to Guantanomo (South Cuba). Without water, because the police had taken the bottle when investigating my hotel, presuming that I am a spy.

Watching photographs of galaxies and classifying them in the astronomy laboratory.
