About Me

CURRENT MISSION

move to Paris and get to know the place and the people

ABOUT ME

This is my first attempt at answering these questions - over the next few years I'm sure all of you couchsurfers will help me add to these and it will all develop.

And that's what this community is all about - travelling, meeting people with different perspectives and trying to get a better idea about how to explain who I really am!

In short I love art, theatre, reading, maths and slow cinema (the type where you're likely to hear some member of the audience snoring loudly).

PHILOSOPHY

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
(What is the most important thing in the world?)

He tangata, he tangata, he tangata!
(It is the people, it is the people, it is the people!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Do a bit of surfing while I'm travelling and next year find a place and flatmates who are keen to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The couch surfers I meet in Auckland were all amazing and going out for a night with a bunch of people from all over the world was a great way to enjoy my home town.

Can't wait to actually do some surfing myself.

Interests

Summer! I'm probably only saying that because I'm getting two winters in a row but, honestly, summer's great.

Winter isn't so bad either - I get to have a white Christmas for the first time ever (in NZ Christmas involves BBQs and the beach).

But whatever the season I like being outdoors - hiking, skiing, cycle touring....having to actually put physical effort into travelling somewhere makes any final destination into the perfect place to be.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not so much the doing or the seeing but the sharing - last year I did a marathon, which was quite an achievement for me, but the best part was all the support from friends and family. I had a delicious meal cooked for me by a friend the night before and then lollies hand deliverd by bicycle as I ran along. Those are just two little things that were part of what made the event so special.

Hmm, on reflection it seems that by amazing support I mean my family and friends are amazing providers of delicious food! I do love that - and it never ceases to make me excited!
