About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm from Southern New Jersey. At University I studied Italian and French. I've spent some time traveling as well. I'm currently working to advance the credit union movement in Northeast Philadelphia.

Sometimes I make some music with some of my friends. We call ourselves "Gatherings"

One of the most valuable things to me is a basic human interaction, conversation.

Here's a story to illustrate: People ask me why I don't get an EZ-pass. You can go through tolls on the highway and you don't have to stop and the booth. People say, "but it's so convenient". Here's the thing. I pay a bridge toll every day. When I do I make a point to say hi and greet the toll booth operator. If I get EZ-pass, for example how will I know if one of them is having a bad day? I could be that one person who could have cheered them up.

PHILOSOPHY

I like simple things: A well tuned instrument, a different point of view, a clean kitchen, a good bed of embers, a comfortable sweatshirt.

I took one of those silly personality tests. It said one of my "themes" was "connectedness". This is the idea that one believes that everything is related somehow. I am all the sands on the beach. I am all the trash in the landfill. Dante called it "mare d'essere" the great sea of everything. I like this idea.

I like to learn. I like ideas. the Important things. I don't mind uncomfortable situations, they have a lot to teach me. I don't mind feeling weird.

"When I was a little kid I had a theory that you should draw a picture using all the colors except yellow, making it as good as you could, and then, finally giving up, you should add yellow."

I think Miranda July said this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a number of times. I do my best to be grateful of a hosts generosity and offer everything I can .

When I'm in a position to host in the future I look forward to it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a bit. Some surfers visited me when I lived in Newark, NJ.

I've done more travelling, however. I've surfed mostly in Italy. One of the things I enjoy most about CS is the opportunity it affords you to visit places which aren't often on any maps. Some of the best surfing experiences I have had took place in smaller towns not too many of us have heard of.

I value the shared experience of letting someone travel through the eyes of a local and try my best to share that side of myself with all those I meet.

A l'alta fantasia qui mancò possa;
ma già volgeva il mio disio e 'l velle,
sì come rota ch'igualmente è mossa,
l'amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle.

Teach, Learn, Share

I try to teach everyone I meet how to patiently enjoy each breath of life.
