About Me

Salam aleikum!

We are a couple from Germany/Belgium, currently on the road for undefined time. We are easy-going, open minded and curious persons who like to enjoy the little things in life. And the big.

After 3 years of travelling, from 2012 - 2015 we made our way back to what people call "home". For us, this is isn´t a country or city anymore, rather a place where you feel comfortable and where friends and families is around. In our case this was Düsseldorf (Germany), where we stayed for three years, studying (Kenneth became a nurse) and working (Inga did grafic-design-stuff).

In October 2018 we were (fianlly) able to quit the routine-life for the sake of feeling free and on the road again.

We always loved travelling, but in the last years we are trying to make a lifestyle out of this passion. We just love the feeling of being free, deciding every day anew where to go and what to do.

With Starting-Point Morocco we want to explore exciting Africa this time...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is such a nice and easy way to meet wonderfull people all around the world.
We were lucky enough to get the chance to enjoy the outstanding hospitality of quite a few amazing people who invited us in their homes and took really good care of us, as well as getting to know awesome persons who stayed at ours... Good memories we won´t ever forget!

During our travels we can't host ourselves, but everytime we settle somewhere it´s time to give back at least some of the hospitality we experienced. During the time we are "stuck" in working life we want to invite the world to our tiny place.

Even though we are not really spiritual, we believe in Karma: what goes around comes around..

Interests

Travelling and being on the road, experiencing new things, doing what we haven't done before, meeting different kinds of people from all over the world and share good times together.

Apart from travelling: listening to vinyl records, picnics in the park, friends, reading, concerts & festivals, walkin' around, eating (all sorts of food, allthough Inga's a vegetarian), inspiring art, foodsaving & -sharing, experimental cooking, drinkin' (wine, beer, coffee, mate), flea markets, diving, laughing, living, loving, ...

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Favorite authors from our last trip:
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, T.C. Boyle, Nick Hornby, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Aravind Adiga, Paulo Coelho, Michel Houellebecq, George Orwell, ...

Music: We both love rock 'n' roll, punk and ska music, as much as jumping around at these concerts.

Quotes:
- "Happiness, only true when shared" (C. McCandless)
- "The less you posess, the less you have to store on your parents attic when you're travelling" (I.H.)
- "Irgendwann kommen wir an... und dann fahren wir wieder los" (K.R.)
- "Teile Lebensmittel, anstatt sie wegzuwerfen" (foodsharing.de)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Both of us speak quite a few languages and we are happy to teach or help you with that, if interested.

We are really curious persons and especially interested in new cultures and alternative ways of living. We will be grateful for whatever you can teach us about your country, culture or lifestyle in general.

(FOOD. We are in the Düsseldorf community of Foodsavers (www.foodsharing.de) and mostly have decent amounts of fresh vegetables & fruits our local supermarkets usually would bin.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I guess we are pretty good in cooking and like to invite people to share a good lasagna, pasta or homemade pizza with us. We also like to improvise with leftovers from the fridge.
Ofcourse we love to share our travel (and other) stories/experiences/ideas as well as we like to hear yours.
