Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because we had faces before we had Facebook. CS offers an unparalleled experience in using the internet to bring people together in person. I have met so many excellent people because of CS and these experiences have solidified my belief in the goodness of the human spirit.

I heard of the site in 2008 from a roommate when she hosted some people on our couch (read: floor). That summer I traveled around Europe where I surfed with a handful of people and it was awesome. Since that trip I've hosted hundreds of people in Vermont and Colorado and I've traveled a lot. I helped organize the Boulder Couch Crash in 2012 and 2013 and they were a blast! I love talking to people about CS.

I was interviewed in an article about CS in Burlington, VT: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/traveling-by-couch/Content?oid=2140392

I don't know you, but I would like to meet you.

Interests

I love the smell of clean laundry, hand signals on bicycles, eating toast, crazy lightning storms, full moons, fresh tracks in waist-deep pow, cuddling, olives, playing games, the sound of billiard balls hitting each other, riding bicycles anywhere, flowers blooming in the spring, the burnt top on creme brulée, tomatoes fresh off the vine, meeting new people, and riding trains.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short. Do whatever the fuck you want.

Be excellent to each other.

Freedom is the creative adaptation of limitation.

Just as one slice into a loaf of bread produces two pieces, you must multiply your wisdom.

Is any sport better than ultimate? By definition, no.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH: Next time you make ice cubes, use hot water. They will freeze faster this way.

I have not paid for a plane or train ticket in over 10 years. I spend time, not money, wheeling and dealing credit card points to get free travel. If you have decent credit I can show you the way. I've also helped several friends with budgeting their personal finances. I'm happy to share what I can to help you achieve financial stability.

Lots of little ideas for how to think about thinking: https://collabfund.com/blog/100-little-ideas/

There is no such thing as a good billionaire. Eat the rich! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cu6EbELZ6I

Does correlation imply causation? http://xkcd.com/552/

If you aren't anti-fascist...then what are you?

LEARN: I'd like to become a better chess player and I'm interested in learning how to make music electronically, but not necessarily "electronic music."

SHARE: calories, camaraderie, cardiovascular strength

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to cook a meal, clean the dishes, walk your dog, water some plants, teach you a new card game, freestyle rap battle, and/or tell you a joke.
