About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live vicariously through all the travellers I've been meeting lately!

ABOUT ME

I don't really know what to put here! Well, I grew up living in different parts of Ireland and so in some ways I became accustomed to travel from an early age. I'm a social person and I think I'm happiest when I'm with a bunch of friends having a tea or drink. I try to be as non-judgemental and as open-minded as I can be; I think that is the most important quality to have if you plan on travelling the world and really learning from people from different cultures.

These sections are so hard to write so I think I'll leave it at that!

PHILOSOPHY

I might be a little trite but I really believe every person you meet can contribute something positive to your own development, all you have to do is listen to them!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During my trip around North America I mainly stayed with couchsurfers. I don't have even a single negative story to tell from that whole period, it was a series of great experiences!

At the moment I'm not able to host people but I'm planning on changing that very soon. Instead, I've been meeting couchsurfers in Dublin, helping them out and giving tours when the time permits.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with nearly a dozen people and enjoyed every minute of the experiences!

I've helped couchsurfers with transport and with getting oriented in Dublin. But I can't wait to host once I settle down properly!!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS: The Grapes of Wrath has to be one of the most powerful books I've ever read. Others I've enjoyed have been A People's History of the United States; Labour in Irish History; Carrying the Fire, An Astronaut's Journey; Ploughman and Other Poems; The Islandman; etc etc. Oh and Catch 22 has to be the funniest book I've read!!

MOVIES: The Big Lebowski; O Brother, Where Art Thou; Some Mother's Son; Heat; The Departed; The Bridge; The Battle of Algiers; The Jerk; City of God.

MUSIC: Traditional Irish; Bluegrass; Punk; 60's to 80's Pop; etc etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched a shaman ceremony on a small island near Korea.

Teach, Learn, Share

If a person is interested, I love to talk about Irish history and politics and about issues of social justice around the world. I'm also an excellent editor of academic work, I just don't know how to use that to contribute to the couchsurfing project!!

Most importantly though I can teach people how to make owl noises with their hands. It's very useful.

I want to learn anything and everything. Is there something you think I should know!?!
