About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become an old woman with no regrets.

ABOUT ME

I've learned that you shouldn't wait for life to happen to you, you need to go out and make your life happen. Type A personality, love a good thrill. I've been single for 30 years-no kids. A long life of unusual activities. I enjoy peace and quiet. Left brained, right brain wanna-be. I spend a lot of time in the ocean snorkeling and taking underwater photos for my St. John marine life identification web site, snorkelstj.com

PHILOSOPHY

Education ourselves through interaction with other people of other cultures and sharing that knowlege with others is a way to help build a better human society without destroying the planet we live on.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Both as host and surfer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a great first experience in Auckland, NZ in May, 2008 as a couch surfer.
I met some local CS'ers in Wisconsin.
I had a great first guest also at home back in Wisconsin.
I've had some great guests spend a day or so with me here on the island.

Interests

Third world travel. Indigenous peoples, cultures, human and animal welfare, global politics, the arts, local traditions.
I enjoy a good thrill whether it's a bungee jump or roller coaster, or thrill ride. Love great movies and documentaries.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies, documentaries. Books on Cosmology, comparative religions, ethnic and cultural music. (anything but America's Country and Western)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There have been so many amazing things I've seen: the expanse of the Amazon River, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall, the Masai Mara from a hot air balloon and a flight to the top of the world, Mt. Everest. I've visited the Mountain Gorillas in both Uganda and Rwanda, then the Orangutans in Malaysia, cruised the Yahtzee River in China and spent Halloween in Transylvania; sailed the southern Greek Islands in a 4 masted schooner and walked on the continent of Antactica.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think everyone has life experiences they can share with others. By learning of other cultures through personal stories and sharing stories of your own brings people together. I wish everyone who sits on their butt in front of the TV their whole life would get up, get out and become AWARE of the world they live in by actually seeing the world through the eyes of someone from a culture other than their own.
