About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to be kind and respectful to everyone I interact with and to remember to appreciate everything I have in this life. 95% of the things that make us angry are insignificant in the end.

ABOUT ME

I am very laid back, like to laugh, and like to make others laugh. I like learning new things from new people and living in the moment: If I have not done something yet, I feel it is in my best interest to try, and if it's something I fail, then it's even more important that I try again.

I don't stress too much about what happened in the past or what might happen in the future, there is too much going on right now.

I choose to be happy because, why not?

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that it's possible to find at least one common interest with anyone in the world, and that one common interest is more than enough. That's not to say we can be friends with EVERYONE in the world that we meet; we are all different, unique individuals after all. However we are also all still human, and so still share and experience the same basic human emotions, so in that respect, we can all relate to each other.

To put it simply, BE KIND!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have used CouchSurfing more to travel than to host, first in Brazil, then in the US, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. But I have also hosted many travelers while I was in Boston and it was an equally rewarding and incredible experience. I have met the most amazing people both traveling and hosting; people who have changed my life, who I will never forget and I only hope I can continue delighting in such experiences.

UNFORTUNATELY, I have moved apartment and where I live now cannot currently support traveling CSers, but I really do love and appreciate CouchSurfing so if you want to meet up and exchange cultural experiences and grow and learn as people, please let me know! As soon as I can offer a mattress or a couch, I promise I will host as many of you as possible!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the pleasure of surfing around Brazil during the World Cup with some amazing hosts, then again during the summer of 2015 around several states in the US, and also in Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. I have had an amazing time surfing, meeting all kinds of different people and learning/hearing from all kinds of incredible life stories. I don't think I can stay in a hotel again!

After I got back from my USA trip, I also hosted surfers as much as I could. It was a great way to give back to the CouchSurfing community, which has given so much to me. I don't have a spare mattress to host people at the moment, but I would love to meet up if you want, and as soon as I can, I would love to offer a safe and comfortable place for other surfers.

What I like about couchsurfing is that it's very simple. You get to meet, share and interact with people, and in return you get a good nights sleep. It's a perfect example of how there's so much that is extraordinary in ordinary things.

Interests

I love music. I like playing guitar and watching/listening to music of all styles and cultures. I am also a huge football fan and love to spend my weekends watching as much football as possible!... When I'm not watching football, I try to make time for my friends ;).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was quite young (I think maybe when I was about 8), my family went to this place called Ol Donyo Waus in Kenya for a holiday. On our first Safari drive there, we stopped in a big grass plain where hundreds of gazelle were starting to "head home" for the night. And so the guide told us that we could get out of the car and join them. So we got out of the car and started running with the gazelles for as long as we could (and it wasn't long because they were 100 times faster than us), and then we stayed and watched the sunset behind the hills.

I'll never forget that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach/share some guitar techniques as well as some other musical ideas. I can teach/share about my home country, Kenya, and share about some of the culture and language there.

I am mostly interested by artsy things and would also like to learn more languages. But anything new always interests me.

I'd also like to learn how to cook more things, because I get lost in the kitchen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully a good time and always an open mind... and, depending on how much money I have left, hopefully a small gift, a drink or a meal to say thank you.
