I am a retired School Principal... actually 56 years of age(not sure where that 65 on profile came from). I retired early in order to enjoy life and expand my horizons....and I don't miss it. I have two grown successful married children that I raised and three grandchildren. I reside at my home on the Island of Kauai(the Garden Island of Hawaii) part of the year and spend the rest of the year traveling, visiting family in Texas or in the mountains above Silverton, Colorado. I am a pilot and own a Cessna 140 taildragger. I am an active hiker with portions of the Continental Divide trail between Durango - Denver my last major endeavor. My next will be in New Zealand. I have a 24' Willard inflatable boat that I scuba dive/spearfish out of when at home on Kauai. I am an ex Science teacher and spent an exciting 6 weeks this spring at Lompoc/Vandenburg Space complex with SpaceX engineers. And they are truly ROCKET Scientists! I recently completed a glider rating at Greater Houston Soaring Assoc., which I am a member. I am also an avid reader and collector....rocks and fossils especially, since my undergrad degree is Biology/Geology. I am religious, studying the teachings of Jesus the Christ separate&apart from organized prayer. I am single and am perfectly happy remaining that way. And lastly, am having the time of my life since I am finally out of school!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on this friendly website to meet, stay and travel with fellow travellers. What a wonderful world we live in, it would be pointless without people, right? :D

Looking to trade some couch space with Kiwi's and Aussies who might be interested in house sitting on Kauai for me. Also getting back to my Scotch/Irish roots on those Islands. I also intend on visiting the Med countries soon.

Interests

My interests are wide, here are just a few: rock climbing, fishing, TRAVELING, moonshining, old trucks, sailing, scuba, bar-b-queing TexMex style, woodworking, bronze sculpting, inventing, barnstorming (flying your plane to distant off grid locales and camping/hiking), ranching, RV'ing with Granddaughter, building things, I usually spend summers hiking or in the mountains above Silverton, Colorado, and the quiet months on Kauai surfing, diving, hiking Koke'e forest trails or the mighty Na Pali trails. Think Jurassic Park with waterfalls.
