About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Un-stick my computer, searching for my tribe and having a meaningful life!

In Brief:
As a biologist I of course love nature in all aspects: forests, rivers, lakes, snow, mountains, smells, lights, bird songs, the wind in the trees, the clouds in the sky... Did I told about the wind in the trees?...
This way I like practice hiking, climbing, snowboarding, sailing and scuba diving. By chance, Switzerland is one of the best places in the world to enjoy all this thing in a perimeter of 100km. Just born in the right place. This is the random luck.... But I definitely need to see who and what is out there, there is so much to share and discover outside this little county.

I became scuba instructor in 2003, did my licenses of sailing boat in lake and in sea/ocean in 2008 to open life options, but still underused these skills, maybe in a near future. It’s true that I’m above all a motorcycle lover and cannot breathe without my hair in the wind. I traveled alone all over Europe From Finland to Gibraltar with my 40 years old motorcycle and if I take an airplane, I cannot stay more than a few days without renting a cool scooter! And Asia by scooter is really cool! ;)

Now I’m free again, after resigning in 2011 from my beloved Engineer school (https://www.epfl.ch) where I was mostly doing Neurosciences and build on the of the top 10 microscopy facility in Europe, I went to live 3 years in Shanghai and traveled all over China to take some fresh air. When I came back in Switzerland I started to live with flat mates and built 2 little companies linked to tattoo: one booking website for tattoo artists: “https://www.tattootravelers.com” and a lab preparing Premium color tattoo inks without the dirty chemical the industry adds nowadays. A huge work, a lot of fun at the beginning but I need now to take the road again. It’s in my gut, and this is a call I don’t wanna tame!

Socially, it’s true that I’m, by habit, a lone wolf, but I really like to socialize in small groups or having good conversations about interesting topics. I think I can speak about anything and I’m always happy to learn new things out of my knowledge comfort zone. New ways of thinking and living I can share with other people is one of the reasons I like so much traveling and I try to be as humble as I can. I would say just in case, to be totally sincere, the only topics I’m totally “waterproof” is fashion, tv-sports/tv-news, etc. But who knows, life is about change;)

Now, my new projects have a broad range in interests between urban farming and nature conservation, which in some ways are not totally un-linked. Let see how my new travels and the people I meet will inspire me on this new road.
And of course, if we have the chance to meet, I hope we can inspire each other!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

"MI CASA ES TU CASA", as we say in my original country.
I like the idea to trust people letting them enjoy my home when I'm working. A house should never be empty. I think if we were less territorial as our cousins, the monkeys, the world will be a much better place to live...

Unfortunately, since I'm living with flate mates, things got a bit more complicate for sharing my place, but as soon I've got a new personal place, my doors will be open again for sure!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE: Only lovely experience as a guest or as a host.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music... I'm a radio user... I like so much being surprised by an old song or something I will never have known without randomized chance... Otherwise, I've never been bored by the sounds of nature.

Movies... Hmm... I'm actually in my "Short movies" period. Youtube (I don't watch TV for 20 years now) is plenty of channels sharing really high quality short movies you might have never heard about otherwise! If you like, I can send you a list of my favorite ones for sure, but be careful, it's terribly addictive ;)

Books... from where to start? Let say, if I had only one style of literature I could read for the rest of my life, it would be still without hesitation: Science Fiction, as long as I could read books written with the quality given by guys like Isaac Asimov, Dan Simmons or Alain Damasio. I love to imagine humanity surpassing it's basic animal behaviors and instincts to become a real galactic civilization. In the other hand I love to read historical books, about ancient Asia and Europe. I love Japanese and Chinese literature, psychology, philosophies, science, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

borned here... And.. And... so much...
This will lead to some good conversation subjects ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach, Share: Scuba diving, photography, French, Spanish and English for beginners (after few days training), biology, ecology, microscopy, image processing, image analysis, Graphism, PAO... Everything I've learned in my life is something I can share. And certainly not only thing I've learned at school. :o)

I just would love to be surprised be new interests I would have never imaging before... Which is not so difficult as I still know so few about this universe... Play music, singing, Chinese calligraphy., being more humble.. Who knows... This is the excitement of surprise!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I'm working now on the web and am mostly nomadic, I don't have any room or couch to offer, I'm so sorry. I'm a "Digital Nomad" for 9 years now (2011). But still like to meet great people along my travels, along this beautiful planet!
