About Me

Hi! We love hosting. I will start this section by saying we are a fragrance free household. With the exception of some essential oils, we do not use any scented products. I prefer to host guests who have the same sensitivities to perfumes and artificial fragrances, or who use minimal products in general. Because even a strongly scented laundry soap on your clothes can be enough to give me a headache! When you write your request, please tell me first that you have read this section and agree to not use scented products while in my space. That would include not spraying yourself with body spray or perfume right before coming in. Normal smells do not bother us! (We compost and we have pets). Just please no chemical/artificial fragrances in body products, thank you!!!

We just moved to Jersey City and I would like to explore the city, and NYC, with my guests but I'm not too knowledgeable about the area yet. I rarely drink but I do like to stay out late occasionally. I like to practice the guitar, piano, learn languages, and keep up with current events. Maybe you can give me a first-hand account of what's going on wherever you're from.
My teenage son and I like comedy, animals, biking, and getting ice cream. I'll list more of my interests when I have more time to work on my profile!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people, learn about other places, and learn new languages. And now, we have moved to a new city and state and I hope to explore along with some of my guests!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Safia Nolin, les Sœurs Boulay, Carla Morrison, Natalia Lafourcade, Patrice Michaud, Gaby Moreno, Julieta Venegas, Edith Piaf, Ximena Sariñana, Eva Ayllón, Marília Mendonça, Lucy Alves, Philémon Cimon, Saratoga, Les Louanges, Kanye West, Phillippe Brach, Orelsan, Maluma, Jason Mraz, Joyce Chu, Mara Tremblay, Carlos Vives, Killer Mike, Perotá Chingó, Bigflo & Oli, Churupaca. Those are a few recent musical interests.

I love traditional music from many places, particularly fascinated with Mexico, Cuba, Trinidad, eastern Europe but pretty much anywhere that music was recorded, from the beginning of recorded music.
A few authors to whom I'll always return: Dale Pendell, Jeannine Parvati Baker, Gabriel García Márquez, Mikhail Bulgakov, Jim McDonald. Now I'm reading Yuval Noah Harari's books, Naomi Klein, Milton Friedman, Kai-Fu Lee
I love grammar books!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got lost a lot while traveling, which isn't that amazing but it was always a powerful learning experience. Actually, it's amazing how easily I get lost.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anything I'm kind of competent at. My son is really good at tech stuff and always happy to share his knowledge. One highlight for me of couchsurfing is the language exchange. If I can, I want to speak my guests' language(s) with them and help with English if needed. I like to cook and share food if I have time, but sometimes I don't have time. I've learned so much on such a wide variety of topics from my guests. I always want to hear about what's interesting to you/what's going on in different parts of the world/ your opinions and insights. I like talking about politics as long as everyone is ok with respectfully disagreeing sometimes. I'm not offended by any political opinion but I myself am pretty opinionated :) but i try to be a good debater or conversationalist without the expectation of convincing anyone of anything. I learn more that way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can help around the house, and I love to trade English practice for other language practice.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay
