About Me

Travelling around Australia in my van 🙌

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Started out with CS while travelling in Japan, one of the best experiences of my life. That was back in 2008 and now I host and surf whenever I can - always hoping to find time and space to do more of both. Just moved into my own apartment which means I can start hosting more often.

As a surfer I think it's important to be authentic, respectful, as generous as I possibly can, have loads of fun and helping others to do the same. As a host, I'd like to think I can expect the same. I'm on CS because places aren't things to be 'done', but lived, and the best way to get to know a place is with its people. So if you're just looking for free accomodation, this isn't the place for you. ;)

Interests

Reading, writing, travelling - all three combined is better. Dancing, live music, being outdoors, cycling and swimming and sunshine and hiking and picnics and getting away from it all. Just tried river canoeing for the first time - looking to do more of that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I have ever done in all my travels is stay in a place long enough to belong there - travelling is one thing but becoming part of another culture is really something else. Other than that, nothing will top New Zealand... from glowworm caves to jumping off bridges into freezing rivers — amazing.

I also got left behind by a boat in Cambodia once — if you want a good story ask about that. ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know how to wrestle a crocodile or ride a kangaroo, so please don't even ask. For those with more realistic desires, I'm more than happy to share what I've learned along the way and to learn from you, too.

I do a bit of hiking and climbing, so if you want some suggestions/company let me know. Recently started doing some cycling and canoeing trips too so I might be able to help if that's your thing as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I've got it, I'm happy to share it! I enjoy cooking so always happy to help out in that way, and being a professional English teacher can come in handy too. Plus I have mad electrician skills. Apart from those more concrete things you just get me: happy, positive, relaxed, organised and tidy. Can't wait to meet you!
