About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do good work and make lots of music

ABOUT ME

I'm an mid-20s lady who likes to play music, bike, get my hands dirty in gardens, and take unexpected adventures.

I'm grateful to be able to make music for a living. I'm in and manage two bands - Bumper Jacksons and Sligo Creek Stompers. Being your own boss and calling music your work is the best thing in the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Laugh a lot. Dance, sing, and communicate well. And you'll be set.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel, I lend bicycles, I host, and I can "tour-guide" for the off-the-beaten-path sights and sounds.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lately most of my couch surfing experience has been staying with folks while I'm on tour. So much better than staying in hotels! I've had both wild adventures and also lovely, comforting experiences with so many truly wonderful people. Clint from Charleston shared homebrew with us, the awesome surfers in St. Pete made our show their meet-up and we got to hang out as a couchsurfing crew (what joy!), Chattanooga folks have been famously friendly, and I've become very close friends with a surfer Logan in Knoxville from staying with him.

Some of my favorite experiences have involved going to a Sufi meeting with Camella, attending Festival International with Wayne, and being wonderfully taken care of and cured with old-time music practice after getting sick by Liam Kelly.

When I lived in New Orleans I was able to host folks, and I brought them out to Frenchman Street and lent many a bicycle. I live too far out in the sticks right now to get many requests!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pretty much all American music from before WWII. Early jazz & blues, honky tonk, cajun, oldtime.

I am not a keeper of books. When I read something I love, I give it away. Yet, every year I find myself re-reading something by Milan Kundera.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam in bioluminescence in the ocean at night time, and could feel the tickle of tiny, tiny bodies as they sparkled around me.

I biked in the Everglades on a moonless night with no lights on my bike. and holy shit, I meant every word of the old gospel tunes we were singing on our way out of there.

I had the honor of performing at the Kennedy Center!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love bartering for learning. I can teach you about beer, how transform old tshirts into sexy halter tops, how to contra dance and two step, and how to play euchre - the world's best card game.

Can you talk to me about ancient mythology? Stars and constellations? The best local hikes in your area?
