CURRENT MISSION

Just returned from a 3-month long trip to SE Asia: 2 months in various places across Thailand, doing veterinary relief work with widlife species and dogs & cats, 1 month in Taipei working with zoo animals.
I'm starting my third year (out of four) of veterinary school starting in September 2015.

ABOUT ME

Hello!

I'm a student veterinarian in Canada. I grew up in Toronto and would be delighted to show anyone around if they're new to the city! I can show you where to get the best burritos, enjoy pitchers for only $10 and so much more.

Although school takes up the majority of my time, I like to make room for painting (acrylics), reading, watching movies (mostly snuggled up in my bed with my dog), cooking and finding new music.

I love trying new things-except eating funky animal parts like goat testicles, can't say I'm too keen to try that haha. I am what I'd like to call "athletically-challenged" but I enjoy many activities including various drinking games, playing pool and frisbee.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I am unable to host right now. I grew up in Toronto and moved to Guelph (an hour away) for school so unless anyone happens to be in Guelph, I don't think my parents would be down to host anyone in my absence..

I do plan on hosting in the near future but for now, I'm using CS to prepare for my eurotrip this summer :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CSed with a lovely couple in Nova Scotia and I've provided ride shares for a couple CSers in the past. I couchsurfed with a lovely Parisian for a couple of days and it was a fantastic experience.

Centres d'intérêt

Art of any kind! Painting, sculptures, pottery, photography, fashion...etc. Some of my favourite artists include Picasso, Dali, Frida, Matisse, Lui Liu, Peter Callesen, Alex Grey and Steve Bloom, just to name a few.

I love animals, especially wildlife animals. I did a full-time internship at a wildlife facility in Ontario and loved it! We dealt with orphaned, injured and diseased native mammals such as raccoons, skunks, red and grey foxes, coyotes, porcupines, squirrels and many other creatures. I also volunteer with a wonderful organization in Guelph, Ontario that keeps non-releasable raptors (birds of prey) for educational purposes. I work with a red-tailed hawk named Kaila and training her is one of the highlights of my weeks. I am currently pursuing a career in veterinary medicine, mostly leaning towards clinical and wildlife streams.

Music: WEFUNK Radio, which is all old school hip-hop and funk. It's awesome, definitely great for cozy stay-at-home-nights and social occasions too (so versatile!)
I'm mostly open-minded about music (except heavy metal, sorry!) and love going to music festivals and concerts. Recent shows: Primavera Sound 2014, VELD Music Fest 2012, Osheaga 2011 (too many amazing bands/singers to list), Childish Gambino, Lykke Li, Tallest man on earth, Explosions in the Sky, Beach House, Vampire Weekend, King Charles, Toro Y Moi, Andrew Bird, King Krule, Deerhunter, HAIM, Xavier Budd, Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, The XX, Rhye, St. Vincent...etc

I took a History of Jazz and it got me hooked on Dizzy Gillespie, Art Tatum, Charlie Parker (Bird!), Lester Young (especially when he was with Count Basie), Thelonius Monk and Sonny Rollins!

Gotta love Lester Young, for his eccentric personality and ability to remain 100% true to himself at all times. He was a tenor sax player (he played other instruments too) and perhaps the original "hipster" haha.
