ABOUT ME

Hi

I’m Joël from Switzerland. I try to travel often, because meeting people all around the world is school for live and on the go good company is like the sunshine on the beach.

I’m a curious explorer and love nature, travelling and thrive through the experiences I make along that journey, meet all kind of people and learn from them, other ways of watching the world, sharing same interests or simply have some fun company and laugh together, having a good time.

Time is the most valuable thing we have, and sharing it in good company is the best way to use it :-)

In winter I work as a children's ski instructor in Switzerland. During the rest of the year I work as software developer, sometimes also while travelling. So my notebook is my best companion ;-)

But I also like and need to switch offline from time to time and meet nice people, exchange with them, hike, party, watch films, visit the city, hanging on the beach, having long philosophical conversations… whatever is fun and makes us feel in good company :-)

That’s why I would like to take advantage to split my USA flight in to several parts and not just fly over all the nice people I could meet along the route ;-)

My main interests are:

Sport in general, more dedicated mountain biking, hiking, swimming and of course skiing / snowboarding

Nature, sustainable energy

Camping with a camper van or a caravan

Computer science, video games ;-)

Cinema, I’m kind a Sci Fi guy, but liked also a lot breaking bad, game of thrones… and of course talking about all kind of films

But all in all I’m open minded to learn about your interests as well, maybe you can teach me something you know much better than I, or we can try smth I never did before, like fishing, or riding a horse...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to share good mood and collect impressions.

While travelling I often prefer to be connected to the people and places how they authentically are.

I don't like so much to be a tourist in the zoo, absorbed from the real life. I like to dive into the local culture.

Also I prefer to spend time with locals and cook together, share travelling stories, photos, ways of watching the world, having long talks...
instead of spending time in a luxury hotel.

I appreciate the hospitality of my hosts and love to host them back in Switzerland for a stay in my camper. I can show them (you ;-) my region (Solothurn) the mountains (Jura, Alps) eat Rösti, Älplermagronen, Fondue, Raclette (typical Swiss dishes) go out to dance in clubs or go for hikes and walks along the River Aare or on of the many lakes.
