Sobre mí

Afghanistan has been Professor Schneider’s area of study and passion since 1997. As an undergrad, after viewing ABC’s Behind the Veil Jordan left California to volunteer as a public relations consultant at the Embassy of the Islamic State of Afghanistan in Washington, D.C.

During this period the Embassy became divided between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban. Continued bellicosity within the Embassy led to its closure by the U.S. Department of State. Jordan was tasked with preparing the Embassy for closure.

Jordan continued to advocate for the women and children of Afghanistan and was instrumental in setting up the first conference on the Capitol Hill regarding the current state of NGOs in Afghanistan..

After 9/11, while completing her Bachelors of Science in History, substitute teaching for Fairfax County Public Schools, teaching yoga, and horseback riding, Jordan volunteered as the Project Coordinator of the Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Stamp Campaign.

When the issuance of stamps honoring four Marine Icons, completed the project,
Jordan continued to oversee the GySgt John Basilone Award for Courage and Commitment--an annual scholarship and award given to outstanding Marines.

After moving to Iowa, Jordan was the first Coordinating Editor for the Afghan Women’s Writing Project (www.awwproject.org).

This tenure led to Professor Schneider facilitating a Fulbright Scholarship for a Hazara woman; who is currently finishing her MBA in the United States.

In addition to teaching Political Science [at St Ambrose and SCC] and Contemporary World Issues, Professor Schneider designed and taught the first honors program for Scott Community College on the psychology behind terrorism.

In April of 2013, Professor Schneider broke new ground as the first American female to teach at a private University in Afghanistan.

Jordan holds a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution with a concentration in Terrorism from Norwich University. Professor Schneider previously served on the board of the World Affairs Council of the Quad Cities, Attacking Tracking and the Des Moines Chapter of InfraGard and is a member of Safeguard Iowa.

Currently, Jordan volunteers for the Quad City Crop Walk Committee, is the Emergency Manager for a faith based community and is job hunting

In addition to studying Arabic and Dari, Jordan is currently completing a Post Master’s certification in Homeland Security. Professor Schneider also holds a certification in EqTPM and CMT and is a Red Cross DAT volunteer.
