Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing was developed by volunteers until 2011, it means the website was previously running without any money-driven company behind it, after that it changed the whole structure. Between 2012 and 2015, the founder of Couchsurfing (Casey Fenton) was fired from CS. The reason were tensions between Fenton and Espinoza led to Fenton, although at that time, he kept his seat on the board of directors. In 2015 Casey Fenton was removed from the board of directors due to differences with management and has since no longer been involved in the day-to-day operations of the company.

Previously Couchsurfing was a community at it's root, now it isn't. Only the few people active here are keeping Couchsurfing alive as a community, but now managed by a greedy company, that only wants to make money. In the past Couchsurfing was doing great without the yearly/monthly fee. My hope is that Couchsurfing's spirit will not die, because of the company behind it.
