About Me

Hello, everyone!

I've been living in Ljubljana for the past 7 years and I like it a lot. The atmosphere in the centre, the cultural scene, the green areas in the suburbs and especially the fact that everything is close from here: the mountains, the sea and my hometown.

I'm an elementary teacher and by now I've been working at schools for about 3 to 4 years. I really like it, I have great coworkers and kids are always the best company you can wish for. It's never boring, it's always creative and heartwarming. My summers are free, which is a great priority.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing 10 years ago when I was a 20-year-old student in Maribor. At that time I started volunteering at a local alternative cultural centre, where I got to meet various people (EVS volunteers), coming from different parts of Europe. I started hosting their friends at my home and when I got introduced to Couchsurfing, that was just a perfect idea. I used to live in a student flatshare and luckily my great flatmates never minded having somebody staying over literally every week. I enjoyed taking my guests around my city and having dinners with them. Many times we ended up having long conversations on various topics. All this really made me go travelling myself, too. So I did. I remember I was always saving money and whenever I had enough to go somewhere, I went. I also took part an Erasmus exchange in Greece, Patras, which was one of the best life decisions of that time. After I got back I went volunteering to Netherlands, Almere, where I helped at their Sanctuary for Exotic animals. Couchsurfing was always really helpful. It helped me to find great, helpful, loving people, with whom I experienced marvellous things everywhere I went to or even in my own city after I came back to Maribor.

When I was finishing my studies I moved from Maribor to Ljubljana. I've been living in my "own" rented one-room apartments, which have been too small for offering a private place. Since then I'm not hosting couchsurfers any more. :( I'll try to figure something out soon. Mabe I'll move the couch to the kitchen :)

During the past years I also used other ways to travel, because I mostly traveled with my ex boyfriend who wasn't that much into CS. But I'll change that. :)

Interests

I like to go wandering around the green areas of Ljubljana or its city centre. I often go running and sometimes hiking with my friends. I spend a lot of afternoons and evenings climbing indoors or outdoors.

For many years I've been a vegetarian. I'm trying to avoid buying plastic and exceeded consumption in general. Music means a lot to me. I adore the sea. Generally I'm an easygoing, simple person, open for learning new things, meeting different or like-minded people and expanding my interests. Please read my references to make the whole picture.

Music, Movies, and Books

In the past years, I'm hardly finding some time for reading other proper books than "teaching literature", but I do read a lot articles on different topics that interest me, mostly psychological or environmental. When it comes to picking a movie, I'm usually avoiding the typical American style.
And music? Soft rock genre is perhaps the closest to my interests at the moment. Blues, blues rock or ethnic music is also in that circle. Or even some nu metal. Here are some I could point out:

Tash Sultana
Shinshape
Tommy Guerrero
Jack Johnson
Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder's solo albums
Morphine
Xavier Rudd
Dave Matthews

... But there's just too many artists I like since I got closer to different styles of music when growing up - from hard rock to metal, from pop rock to flower power, from ethno to jazz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped into 12 degrees C river Vipava this Spring. Super cold, but I did it twice. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a teacher, what else can I say? :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Definitively some quality time. :-)

If you think it would be cool to meet me, there is probably a good reason for me to meet you too. And I guess it works same in the opposite way. I like when people tell a bit more about themselves on their CS profile so I can get a picture of them before I get to meet them.
