About Me

**PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE “HOME” SECTION BEFORE MAKING A COUCH REQUEST**
Thank you, legends!!! Mush Love.

Greetings! I am a Master of Leisure and I have a very fancy piece of paper to prove it. I am an eclectically eccentric human being, living a simple life in the Kootenay mountains of British Columbia, Canada. I am primarily a host because I have a wonderful feline soulmate and many, many plant children under my care. Occasionally I get to do some surfing, which is always a special treat!
A bit more about me... I work hard at a beautifully crafted and wildly delicious restaurant called Pitchfork (come visit!) in order to facilitate my participation in a wide variety of interests. My life is oriented around LEISURE. I am fundamentally very curious about the world and its infinitely diverse natural wonders, peoples, places, stories, and so forth... I am in love with the land where I live. The mountains and lakes and FORESTS are exquisitely beautiful to behold. I love to be outside, and I love movement -- camping, hiking, chilling, dancing, strolling, adventuring, mountain biking, snowboarding, yoga, hula hooping/flow arts, patios, picnics... I love to be around WATER -- ocean-front, river/lake-side, beachin' (free the nipple!), hot springs, waterfalls, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, languid lounging... lovely. I relish outdoor adventures in the dead of winter, lit only by the glow of the full moon reflecting off sparkling fresh snow... I am captivated by the Aurora Borealis, the effervescent multicoloured dancing sky-lights of the NORTH. In some ways, I feel that "Aurora" is my true heart's name; it captures my essence as a beautifully ever-shifting, rare and colourful individual.
I like to spin vinyl; appreciate/create/jam out with ART; prospect and ROCK hound; connect with beautiful peoples; snuggle nap with my kitty cat; engage with YOGA as a living, breathing practice; (attempt to) orient around sacred reciprocity aka AYNI; explore intellectual intercourse. I enjoy taking pictures of my leisurely life as a hobbyist photographer: you can check out some of my play on Instagram (my username is " wandermohr ").
I am passionate about cultivating plant life; contemplating hu-man life; drinking TEA ... or espresso... or any fine local beverage. I very much delight in eating delicious FOOD, prepared with love. I enjoy the smoke essence of finely cultivated vegetation; I have a deep respect for the medicine PLANTS of this world. I am in the process of discovering and intentionally bringing earth-based spirituality into my life and it has begun to shift my perspective in a plethora of positive ways. We are LOVE. In the summertime, I like to kick it in my Westy -- van life forever. I am also an avid co-creatrix in transformational festival culture. I like to dress up in silly garments and flail my limbs around to some groovadelic tunes! I really enjoy traveling and challenging myself with as many new experiences as possible. Learning new things, about new people, in new places, is one of life's greatest joys.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Local recommendations make a place come alive. Seeing the world through another person's perspective is a true gift. Thus, I feel compelled to assist the weary traveler(s) that may somehow find themselves in my present location... It has been fun to keep my passion for the vagabond (/vanabond) life alive by hosting cool folks that are living their dreams every day. I love to meet pilgrims on the journey of self and life, and to hear their stories of many fractalized "elsewheres"...

Interests

A few things that tickle my fancy, that float my boat and toot my horn:
--mind-full-ness; permaculture principles; ECO-consciousness; Indigenous wisdom; acknowledging the ancestral; psychedelia; outdoor NUDISM; bushcrafting and wilderness skills; ceremonia/medicina; transformation; thought-full-ness; practicing gratitude/living love; BALANCE and PERSPECTIVE are everything; introspection/introversion; expansion and inspiration; NERDing out; shamanism and spirituality; critical thinking; questioning everything; being in the woods, with the standing people, and with Old Growth especially (respect your elders); GARDENING; ecstatic dancing; the slow life; CATS; rainbow eccentrics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read: Anything. My mind is voracious; I appreciate unique prose. I loved the Cloud Atlas and Bone Clocks by David Mitchell -- his style titillates the English language nerd within me. Highly recommend The Five Agreements and The Mastery of Love (Don Miguel Ruiz), both books contain life changing material. Equally life changing but in a more physical sense, learning about the fundamentals of your breathing apparatus in BREATH (James Nestor) and your digestive system in Eating Alive (Jonn Matsen) will probably blow your mind at least a little bit. Along the same lines, a good compliment is The Biology of Belief (Bruce Lipton), redefining the DNA determinism of the medical system. I've enjoyed The Golden Compass series (Philip Pullman). Mycelium Running -- all hail Paul Stamets! The Shamanic Way of the Bee: Ancient Wisdom and Healing Practices of the Bee Masters (Simon Buxton) is AMAZING. The Cosmic Serpent (Jeremy Narby). The Fellowship of the River (Joe Tafur). Can't forget The Lord of the Rings (Tolkien)... the list goes on. So many books, so little time.

I love science fiction movies, fantasy is good too. Star Trek (TOS and TNG) and Star Wars, anything dystopian future... The Dark Crystal series is fantastic. The Mandalorian is excellent. Dune slaps hard.

I love to watch documentaries or anything artistic -- such as films like Baraka, Samsara, Watermark, Manufactured Landscapes, Anthropocene, Planet Earth II, Life in Color! I also highly enjoy quirky stories, a la Wes Anderson. Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet is magically brought to life in a captivating film that I can recommend for just about anyone. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Attenborough's early work with The Secret Life of Plants series.

Music is medicine: I can appreciate anything born from passion.

Share with me some of your favorites, I love to discover new beats and new ideas.
