About Me

I'm from Belgium originally but have been living in Cancun since 2010. I love meeting people from different cultures around the world, especially now that my schedule doesn't allow globetrotting as often as I used to, it's nice to at least travel vicariously. :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started hosting people during the last few months of my time in Malta, in 2009. After departing from Malta, I surfed couches in Madrid, Barcelona, Phuket, New York, and Austin. The friendly surfers in Austin recommended that I cut short my 3-month trip in the USA and head to Mexico instead. The first city I landed in - Cancun - was so much fun that I decided to stay for a few months to learn Spanish. Those few months by now turned into years :-)

Interests

I'm into gymnastics, slacklining, squash, snowboarding, mountain biking, wakeboarding, and other water sports. I also enjoy practicing cliff diving and apnea.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many different kinds of music, depending on my mood. Regarding books, I have to admit that I never read any fiction but I do have books about biology and other non-fiction. I'm really interested in the inner workings of the human body.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best travel experience in my life was a trip to China with 10 good friends; we rented a crappy basement room in a hotel in Beijing for about $1 per night which had fungus on the walls and water dripping from the ceiling. Then in Shanghai we had a huge serviced apartment on the 30th floor of some luxurious building. Quite the contrast, as is often the case in China.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a very long to-do list when it comes to learning things, including surfing, dancing (from ballroom to breakdance), flying a plane, freediving, etc. I hope I live long enough to finish my list. :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides an awesome time, I can share my experiences when it comes to starting by software business, property investment business, or investing. I can also teach basic skills in poi, slacklining, or gymnastics.
