CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is learning and educating more about Slavic cultures. I'm a founding member of Simply Slavic, an organization based in Youngstown, Ohio dedicated to preserving and celebrating Slavic culture in the Youngstown/Northeast Ohio region.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and going to new places. I like to explore nature and also love to see villages, towns and cities. I also enjoy showing people around my own hometown of Youngstown, Ohio USA. It's not known as a tourist destination, but for people who enjoy getting away from the main tourist places or have already been to the big places and want to experience real life in USA, my hometown and things around it can be interesting.

Interests

I'm naturally interested in meeting new people, learning languages, history, world geography, current world politics. I don't watch much TV, so I won't have much to say about the latest reality show you watched. I enjoy interesting food and drink, but I have boundaries and limits with both. I like all four seasons and try to make the best of any weather situation. I don't cry about cold or snow, it makes life more interesting!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've traveled several times across Europe to different countries, but I find myself most comfortable around Slavic cultures. I spent nearly a month traveling independently around Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia in 2010. I also spent a month mainly in Poland and Slovakia during September of 2013. I also love to travel to Canada and am very familiar with Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver. I've also traveled extensively around the USA. In 2015, I spent 2 1/2 months in Central Europe, visiting Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. In 2016, I visited Macedonia and Bulgaria in addition to other countries in eastern and central Europe. I also spent two months traveling around Ireland, southeastern Italy and the Balkans in July and August of 2017. During Summer 2019, I spent 2 months visiting Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Serbia.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a place to stay in my living room for a short period of time. Depending on my schedule, I may be able to spend time with guests if they will be in the Ohio/Pennsylvania area for a period of time.
