ABOUT ME

Hey fellow couchsurfers, I'm Kim a 28 year old ICT guy who has become a travel addict. Travelled a lot with my parents and brother in Europe while I was younger. After finishing my studies me and my brother went backpacking in Scotland and loved it.So the urge to travel returned and I have been busy ever since. We did some more backpacking trips in Europe, I went to New Zealand for 1 year of hiking and hitching, just came back from a 3 month America trip where I hitchhiked from New York to Las Vegas.

I'll head to Australia with a working holiday visa in Februari 2013 and continue on to NZ again after a year or so. My girlfriend Candy is coming to Australia to join me at the end of June after she finishes school and becomes a kindergarten teacher.

As I did while hitchhiking to The North Cape and hitchhiking from New York to Las Vegas I will also donate to www.childsplaycharity.org for every KM that I hitchhike in Australia and New Zealand. This time it will be a little bit less, like 5 cents / KM because I have less money than before and if I hitchhike around Australia that's like 10 000 km :) More information on my blog : www.nearlynomad.com

UPDATE JUNE 2013

Hey everybody, I spend 4 months already in Australia and so far so good :) Hitchhiked my way up from the Blue Mountains next to Sydney all the way up to Cape York, the top of the land down under.

Did about 6000 km so far and took me 53 rides to get to Cooktown where I am at the moment. I'll be heading to Cairns were I will fly to Melbourne on the 1ste of July to pick up my girlfriend Candy who arrives from Belgium.

PHILOSOPHY

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to visit some people while couchsurfing in the future and when I back home ready to settle down in Belgium I would like to host myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had 2 experiences but not through the site.
One friend connection in Norway and a second random encounter with a host while hitchiking in New Zealand.

After that I used couchsurfing with my brother in Scotland and I hope to use it in Australia.
