About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Break on through to the other side...

ABOUT ME

My story begins in a thimble full of cocaine on the backstage of an Aerosmith concert somewhere in Illinois. The year is 1987, and my father...

PHILOSOPHY

I had an amazing dream one night, early in my travels, where an incredible friend of mine explained that what she saw in me, as a human being, was a deep and infinite well of energy, passion and brilliance that I could harness to create whatever path I want in life. It's up to me to mold my own reality. Recalling the dream still fills me with a warm sense of self confidence and excitement about the road ahead.

Interests

Activism. Writing. Drumming. Canoeing. Excursions. Politics. General Irresponsibility.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Right after my senior year of college I headed out into the world and decided to backpack through Europe.

My first destination? Paris, France. After a long, tiring flight, I landed at Charles DeGaulle airport. The excitement and the novelty of landing in a completely foreign country for the first time smashed any sense of fatigue I was experiencing. I perked up, I took in every sight, every smell, every moment of the new experience. I said yes.

Then, not one hour after arriving in Paris, I was walking down the street when suddenly- a man standing on a 6th floor balcony hawked the most vile, offensive, and disturbingly accurate loogie of all time. Directly into my right hand pants pocket.

I was pissed, I was disgusted, and I was helpless. But upon realizing that, I couldn't help but appreciate the extreme level of skill and dickishness the man had demonstrated. I refuse to believe it was mere coincidence. That Parisian knew what he was doing, he was damned good at it, and he truly exemplified every stereotype I had ever heard about the French.

Assholes. Talented, magnificent, toad fucking assholes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you a crash course in percussion!

I can tell you all about the terrifying realities of mass incarceration in the United States, the racial injustices of the war on drugs, and the rise of the surveillance state.

I'm fascinated by astrophysics and the fundamental nature of the universe. Michio Kaku's book Beyond Einstein is one of the greatest things I've ever read. And I can teach you a very basic pop-sci understanding of physics.

I'm a great storyteller, although some of the tales I tell are so long they really require a dedicated audience. I can teach public speaking!
