About Me

*COVID-19 is still a thing! If you are going to request my couch, tell me how you will protect us from the virus' spread! Requests that do not include this information will be automatically declined.*

I am an easy-going anthropologist with a dry sense of humor. I teach peacebuilding and conflict management. While you will find me out for a quiet morning walk with my dog or a hike at a local spot, you won't find me closing down the bar at 3 AM.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to see new places, meet new folks, and share experiences. I treasure local knowledge and insight when I Couchsurf, and offer that to the folks who stay with me.

Interests

I enjoy gardening, reading, walking, crafting, kayaking, and hiking (not necessarily in that order). I love to experience the world around me (e.g., kayaking and hiking) and to create new things (e.g., gardening, crafting).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On the way back from working in Uganda, I had a several hour layover. I toured the city at daybreak with a Canadian who was also on layover. After a chance meeting in the customs line, we had a great time touring the city, chatting about work, relationships, and swapping stories. The depth of our conversations was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you knitting and cross stitching, rudimentary Kiswahili, and anthropology. I can tell you stories about teaching, doing research in disaster zones and human rights contexts, and working in the world's only black fly lab. I can tell you about graduate (or gradual?) school. I want to learn local knowledge and insights, new languages, recipes, native plants, and gardening ideas.

What I Can Share with Hosts
