About Me

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations in Turkey. I earned my BS, MS and PhD degrees from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. My research interests include gender politics, identity, theories of nationalism and ethnicity, secularisation, comparative politics, and Turkish politics. I have published articles on identity, multiculturalism, nationalism, postsecularism, and theories of state. I am also the Editor-in-Chief of Lectio Socialis, a biannually published refereed journal on social sciences.

Maybe I'm not the life of the party, but I'm always interested in trying new things. Trust, respect, and kindness are important to me, and I always make sure that I don't make others uncomfortable when spending time with them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am excited to try Couchsurfing for the first time and look forward to meeting new people and learning about their way of life. I believe that Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with locals and gain a deeper understanding of the places you visit.

I enjoy working in a social context and I aim to use my new experiences in this field. Learning about different cultures and connecting with people is very important to me.

I am an open-minded person and I value experiencing, learning, and understanding differences in life. That's why traveling is very important to me. Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures always excites me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big fan of Amin Maalouf and his work. I also enjoy period films and historical adaptations. I find ethnic and folk music very interesting and enjoy discovering new artists.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always eager to learn new things and share my knowledge with others. I believe that teaching and learning go hand in hand and that we can all benefit from sharing our experiences with one another.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my experiences and knowledge with my hosts. For example, I can share information about my culture, country, and interests. I can also offer to cook a meal or help with household chores.

I would love to host the people I meet during my travels. We could even plan an exotic trip to the heart of Turkey together.
