About Me

Give me a road and it will be an adventure...ok...not the road to the grocery store, but you get the gist. I'm over 30 but under 50...I really do prefer to travel on my own, get out meet people, learn about their lives, cultures and languages. All of my best experiences were detours from the norm and unplanned. I have yet to see Canada west of...yes, Windsor (EGADS!) I've only been to the East Coast once. Those are two of my gettos. I've spent a lot of time in the US and love South America.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have yet to give it a try. I first came across the idea of living/staying in someone's home when I spent two amazing weeks in Downtown Havana and have wanted to get off the beaten path of the norm. I love hostels...ok...not all of them, but the idea and the experience. Overall it's the experience of learning about and meeting others.

Interests

Mostly cerebral things...reading, writing, learning....without being obnoxious. Being selectively active in causes that are big-picture problems. Moving towards a minimal way of living and being more self-sustaining. Working with a local animal charity, helping seniors with their taxes, giving a hand up to someone in need. Alone time. Forests.

Music, Movies, and Books

From A-Z, sans most Jazz, rap, ska and anything that is just noise. I like talent, not techno.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not so much the Amazing things I've done...but the amazing, life altering, visions of astonishment I have had the privilege to have been witness to.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - culture, our world-famous Canadian cuisine (wink)....ummm...there loads more but it's not presenting itself!

Learn - culture, language, experiences,

Share - a meal, laughter, stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hmmm....I am a very good dishwasher. A mostly sane environment...I don't have cable so it's usually quiet. I know my neighbourhood, city, area and province well. I have a pull out sofa and occasionally, a twin bed. Mine is a small simple apartment but has all the basics a human could need. Share a meal or make one on your own. Share stories or take some quiet time. I'm pretty easy going as long as you are.

NOTE: I have two cats and often foster kittens for a local animal charity. It may look like I'm a crazy cat lady, but I assure you I am not.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bolivia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, United States
