About Me

Our household consists of Peter, Leslie, and a very loving cat. We are striving to become more sustainable, waste-free, and low-carbon while building the kind of community and world our children can live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We like meeting people and learning about other places, other jobs, other lives. We love guests who have time for a meal or drinks and conversation. And we love to welcome people to beautiful Minnesota.

Interests

We live in the tiny village of Marine on Saint Croix, population 700. it is located next to William O’Brien state park. Great natural beauty - hiking, kayak and snowshoe rental at the park, great bird-watching, lots of wildlife! Oh so much wildlife. We are working on converting our yard to an edible and pollinator garden. We enjoy biking, board games, puzzles, listening to music, watching old movies, a cuppa tea while sitting on the deck watching wildlife or by the fire in the evening. Peter homebrews beer. Leslie quilts.

Music, Movies, and Books

Peter is a huge movie buff, esp horror movies. Leslie prefers listening to the radio. Peter reads fiction; Leslie reads non-fiction. We love world music; Peter also likes hardcore punk and Leslie likes most everything else.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the beginning of the wars, the pro-war bluster that passes for patriotism resulted in many people in our community feeling they could not speak. Leslie and a friend created a public event and an ongoing art installation where people could share their complex feelings of hurt over 9/11 and their fears for our soldiers and the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. The art platform remained in a public park for several months. We visited weekly to bring new art supplies for people to use to express themselves.

Teach, Learn, Share
