Sobre mí

Hiiii! I'm Lexy. I'm not great at talking at myself, and never know where to start with these "about me" things? Eeek. I think you can look at my references to get a better sense of me...

I s'pose I'm just another human being, wandering this beautiful and broken world. I'm still figuring things out, but I DO know that my ideal life (at least, right now) consists of four things: 1) making things, 2) helping people, 3) travel, 4) weird adventures! I've been letting life unravel fairly organically - mostly guided by my intuition - and I feel super fortunate and privileged that I'm incredibly passionate and excited about almost everything I do! I spend a lot of time doing 1)-4)! Art! Trying to help make the world a better place! Wandering around! Weird stuff! YAY!

I'm originally from small-town suburbia, Canada, and now reside New York City! Pursuing artsy fartsy dreams, y'know... I tend to do a looot of things at once (YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!), but I'm learning to slow down... Slowly...

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

.....BECAUSE HOW ELSE WOULD YOU TRAVEL?!!?!? Even if I had an abundance of money for hostels or what-have-yous (unlikely - refer to being an artist thing), I'd 126% still use couchsurfing. Traveling is absolutely, for me, about the wonderful humans I meet and learn from; I love sharing experiences in new places with locals! It's so rich and humbling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:

Been on Couchsurfing for six years now (!!!), and it's been a super enriching part of my life. Surfed quite a bit through Europe and the States. It's the absolute best and I LOVE sharing Couchsurfing stories! I tend to use it waves, but always appreciate the abundance of generosity, kindness, and stories.

For many years, I sporadically hosted awesome folks in my colourful little room in New York. I was living with an 85-year-old woman, so we got to concoct fake stories of our relationship, so the whole "strangers staying over from the internet"* didn't freak her out.

*She also didn't fully grasp the concept of the "internet," I don't think.

NO OTHER WAY TO TRAVEL!!!

{//side note: very not into CS increasingly aggressively pushing this whole "pay$-to-get-verified" bullshit}

Intereses

MAKING THINGS (sketching, sculpting, sewing, crafting, doodling, etc), biking, traveling (duh), weird adventures, sleeping outside, climbing things, feminism, hanging out with children, trying new foods/ eating anything and everything, live music, hitchhiking, children's books, collecting peoples' life stories, people-watching, exploring nature, dressing up in costumes for no apparent reason, dancing horribly, board games, alternative education, magic shows, glitter, a good power nap, rooftops, terrible puns, star-gazing, documentaries, small pleasures, imagination, life. I'm not a hugggge partier (though I specialize in appearing like I'm tripping on acid, when I'm not, particularly when dancing), but aside from that, I'm pretty much up for everything! I thrive on new experiences and ADVENTURES. I looove trying and learning new things.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Hitchhiked by myself from Greece to Lithuania for a wild and magical ~Rainbow Gathering~~~

Helped get a grant and co-create a weekly adaptive art program for disabled youth in the South Bronx. These young people are INCREDIBLE, and one of the main reasons I find myself still inhabiting this crazy city.

Collectively living + creating with 18+ artists in NYC in an old postcard factory

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I LOOOOOOVE creative collaborations. Let's make something together!

Bonus: I will laugh at all your bad jokes. I promise.
